Earlier this year, in March 2022, Kia made an exciting announcement regarding their plans to introduce not one, but two all-electric pickup truck models. Set to be released by 2027, one of these models will be specialized, while the other will strategically target emerging markets. The specialized model is expected to be developed on a separate all-electric platform, while the strategic model may be based on an internal combustion engine platform. In an unexpected turn of events, Kia will also be launching a ladder-frame pickup truck model, codenamed “Tasman,” which is set to hit the market in 2024.

In an interview with Drive magazine, representatives from Kia Australia revealed that the global launch of the Kia pickup truck is scheduled for 2024, with production slated to commence in South Korea during the first half of 2025.
Tasman is speculated to be the strategic pickup truck model, offering a range of engine options, including both internal combustion engines and electric motors, to cater to various markets.
The design of the Kia Tasman pickup truck remains shrouded in mystery, as only a few heavily camouflaged test prototypes have been spotted. From the limited glimpses, it is apparent that the Kia Tasman boasts a considerable ground clearance, a square-shaped radiator grille, and LED daytime running lights inspired by the Mohave. Additionally, the vehicle seems to feature relatively small wheels.
