The Lexus LBX measures 4,190 mm in length, 1,825 mm in width, and 1,560 mm in height, with a wheelbase length of 2,580 mm. Compared to the UX, the new LBX is 305 mm shorter and 15 mm narrower, but 20 mm higher. It comes with two options for alloy wheels, available in 17-inch and 18-inch sizes.
The 2023 Lexus LBX is exclusively offered as a hybrid, available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. It is powered by a hybrid system based on a 1.5L 3-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power of 134 horsepower and a peak torque of 185 Nm. With this power, the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.2 seconds.
All versions of the new Lexus LBX come equipped with MacPherson strut front suspension and rear torsion beam suspension for FWD models, and double wishbone suspension for AWD models. The specifications of the AWD model have not been disclosed yet, but it will be supplemented with a rear electric motor. Interestingly, the small crossover features an aluminum hood and plastic wheel arches to reduce weight.
Inside the cabin, the new Lexus LBX features a fully digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch screen and a 9.8-inch touch screen entertainment display, along with an optional head-up display. The infotainment system supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Lexus has once again partnered with Mark Levinson to provide a premium 13-speaker sound system with a subwoofer.
The Lexus LBX is expected to begin production later this year and will be available in Europe and other markets by the end of this year or early 2024.
