BMW is introducing a new infotainment system.
According to Adrian van Hooydonk, the Head of Design at BMW Group: “Touchscreens usually have a large surface, and as designers, we don’t want that. However, flexible screens are around the corner, and we are pushing for that. We are looking for a seamless integration between the screen and the shape.”
Van Hooydonk says there will be a transition phase between rotary control and touchscreens. He also comments that “heads-up display will be a major part of it” and “the new technology allows us to take bolder steps in interior design.”
