On March 16th, the Honda Racing Vietnam team officially commenced their journey at the 2024 Asian Road Racing Championship (ARRC) at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand. Following the success of the 2023 season, the Honda Racing Vietnam riders are expected to feature on the podium (finishing in the top three positions) at the 2024 ARRC season.

Rider Cao Viet Nam, with the number 65, holds the greatest expectations. In Race 1 of the opening round, Cao Viet Nam, starting in third position, delivered an impressive performance.

After just two laps of Race 1, Cao Viet Nam took the lead of the race and continuously held the number one position, despite immense pressure from rival riders.

Coming into the final lap, Cao Viet Nam remained in the top positions. Fans eagerly awaited the moment when the Vietnamese flag would fly high at the international race. However, at the final corner, rider number 65 unfortunately collided and crashed just before the final straight to the finish line.

Despite Cao Viet Nam’s confident and excellent performance, he once again missed out on a podium finish and ended up in 11th place. The hope is that Cao Viet Nam will return stronger in Race 2 of Round 1 of the 2024 ARRC.

The two remaining riders, Nguyen Huu Tri, number 18, and Nguyen Ton Anh Phu, number 19, who are competing in the AP250 category of the ARRC for the first time, showcased impressive performances.

Starting from 12th and 13th positions, respectively, after 10 laps, Huu Tri and Anh Phu finished in 10th and 9th places. Finishing within the top 10 fastest riders will motivate these two young riders to perform with more confidence and flair in Race 2, which will take place tomorrow (March 17).

Although Cao Viet Nam was unlucky and missed out on the top three, the consolation is that all three riders of the Honda Racing Vietnam team earned points after Race 1. Anh Phu scored 8 points, Huu Tri scored 6 points, and Viet Nam scored 5 points.

The Asian Road Racing Championship (ARRC) is recognized as one of the most prestigious racing championships in the Asia and Oceania regions, serving as a platform for national champions to advance to a higher level while also introducing a new chapter for the thrilling sport in Asia. The championship features four official race categories for teams: UB150, AP250, SS600, and ASB1000.

In the 2024 ARRC, Honda Racing Vietnam participates with three riders in the AP250 category. The first is Cao Viet Nam, rider number 65. He is the rider with the most impressive record for the Honda Racing Vietnam team in the AP250 class.

Rider number two is Nguyen Ton Anh Phu, number 19. Anh Phu joined the Honda Racing Vietnam team and competed in the Thailand Talent Cup in 2022. After two years of training and competing on the regional circuit, Phu has achieved notable results, including a Top 10 finish in the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup 2024 and a Top 12 finish in the Thailand Talent Cup.

Finally, there’s Nguyen Huu Tri, number 18. After one year with the Honda Racing Vietnam team, the young rider has made significant progress, securing a Top 4 finish in the Honda CBR250 Challenge at the Malaysia Superbike Championship and a Top 36 finish in the UB150 category at the 2023 Asian Road Racing Championship (ARRC).

The 2024 ARRC season is expected to comprise six rounds, held at major circuits across the Asia region. Honda Racing Vietnam will compete in all six rounds in the AP250 category.
