According to some information, Thaco distributor may soon bring the “beast” BMW XM to Vietnam, with impressive features such as twin-turbo V8 engine and impressive appearance.
Launched since September 2020, and only a short time after, the BMW XM arrived in Thailand in March 2023. This is the top-performance SUV flagship of the Bavarian brand, and also the first M model to be introduced in Vietnam as Thaco dealers began accepting reservations.
To put it in perspective, the BMW XM 2024 provides a sporty driving experience similar to the brand’s high-performance sedan, the BMW M3, but with added luxury interior space comparable to the top-of-the-line 7-Series, all packaged in a rugged SUV body.
Looking at the BMW XM’s exterior, most consumers will find it aggressive and extremely intimidating. The dual kidney grille is designed square, combined with the “angry eyes” headlight cluster, giving the impression of a warrior ready for battle at any moment.
Meanwhile, the body and rear of the car are also designed very square and rugged. The overall car exudes a sporty, modern, and fierce look with extremely imposing 5-double-spoke wheels, up to 23 inches on the top-end model and 22 inches for the standard version. The actual power of the XM is also very impressive.
As soon as you start the engine and drive just a few meters, you can easily feel the overwhelming power from the twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a displacement of 4.4L, combined with the plug-in hybrid system. The total output of the BMW XM Label Red version reaches 738 horsepower – equivalent to famous supercars from Lamborghini or Ferrari.
This “firepower” can make your body stick to the seat, “shooting off” from a standstill – literally – with a speed of 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. While the standard version of the car also achieves a power output of 644 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
However, compared to the top-of-the-line SUVs, such as the Lamborghini Urus or Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid (both capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds), the BMW XM may still lag behind.
Although powerful, the driving experience of this SUV is still not on par with the flagship BMW M3 and M5 sedans, especially in terms of handling and continuous high-speed cornering. In fact, this is a common weakness of SUVs compared to low-profile sedans.
On the BMW XM, the German manufacturer chose to equip a coil spring suspension system combined with adaptive dampers and active anti-roll bars. Although not as comfortable as air suspension, in Comfort mode, the BMW XM also has a not too harsh reaction that makes passengers uncomfortable.
In return, this suspension system proves to be extremely responsive and sharp when switched to Sport mode. It makes driving the BMW XM through winding roads a refreshing and exciting experience.
According to the German manufacturer, the 7.4 kW battery pack equipped on the BMW XM helps the performance SUVs to operate in pure electric mode for a maximum range of nearly 50 km after each full charge. The charging time for the car battery is also about 3 hours.
In addition to unmatched performance, owners also enjoy a spacious and comfortable interior space and a high-class cabin with all interior surfaces wrapped in luxurious materials, meticulously finished like leather, carbon, metal, and so on.
BMW equips the XM with an optional diamond surround sound system from the Bowers & Wilkins brand, with a pair of tweeters capable of emitting light with quite an “enchanting” effect. Even the standard audio system is a premium type of stereo.
Technology is also an aspect that cannot be overlooked when talking about the BMW XM. The car is equipped with a dual large-sized display coupled with the iDrive 8.5 operating system and wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto connectivity, along with a host of top-of-the-line entertainment and convenience features currently available.
Two standard driving support features present on the BMW XM are emergency automatic braking with pedestrian detection and lane departure warning – lane keeping assistance. Other advanced features can be equipped as options, including adaptive cruise control, lane centering…
The price of the BMW XM is also a “tremendous” number not less powerful or accelerating ability of it. Specifically, the 2024 BMW XM standard version has a suggested retail price in the US of $159,995, equivalent to about 3.76 billion VND; while the higher-end XM Label Red version starts at $185,995 (~ 4.37 billion VND) – similar to the top-of-the-line BMW X8 SUV. When it comes to Vietnam, the expected price for the BMW XM is 12 billion VND.
And when being generous in spending the money for owning BMW XM, customers will enjoy a series of attractive after-sales policies, such as a 4-year or 50,000-mile general warranty and engine warranty; free maintenance for the first 3 years or 36,000 miles.
