In July 2022, Toyota officially introduced the 2023 Crown model. In the new generation, the car will have a total of 4 versions: traditional sedan (silver), high-ride liftback “Crossover” (brown), sporty SUV “Sport” (red), and large-size SUV “Estate” (gold).
After more than a year since its launch, the Japanese automaker has released the pricing for the Crown Sport. Specifically, in the Japanese market, the Toyota Crown Sport 2024 has a starting price of 5.9 million yen (about 967 million VND), considerably higher than the Toyota Crown Crossover.
The Toyota Crown Sport 2024 is positioned in the mid-size SUV segment, with dimensions of 4,710 x 1,880 x 1,560 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,770 mm.
The Toyota Crown Sport maintains the same design as the concept version introduced last year.
The car features many exterior details reminiscent of the Ferrari Purosangue, such as the “C” shaped headlights that embrace the front corners of the car. Between the two headlights of the Toyota Crown Sport is a small air vent, similar to the Ferrari Purosangue.
The car is equipped with 21-inch rims wrapped in wider sport tires, giving it a significantly more dynamic and sporty appearance.
At the rear, the Toyota Crown Sport stands out with a continuous strip of taillights connected by a glossy black bar. The interior of the taillights reminds people of the Mercedes-Benz GLB and Toyota GR Supra. In addition, the car has raised “Crown” lettering on the trunk, long air vents at the two corners of the rear, and a black glossy rear bumper.
In terms of the interior, the cabin of the car has a 5-seat configuration. This mid-size SUV is equipped with a digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen center display. In addition, the car also has a three-spoke steering wheel with integrated function buttons, automatic air conditioning with a small screen, electronic gear shifter, electronic parking brake, wireless phone charging, temporary brake hold, and memory seats.
Behind the second-row seats, the car has a spacious luggage compartment, comfortably accommodating passengers’ belongings on each trip.
The “heart” of the Toyota Crown Sport 2024 in the Japanese market comes with two engine options, including hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Both powertrains use a 2.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine. However, the PHEV version will be equipped with a more powerful electric motor and a newly developed lithium-ion battery pack. The car will consume an average of 21.3 km/L (about 4.69 L/100 km) of gasoline and will be available in both 2WD and 4WD versions. Specific other specifications of the car are still being kept secret by the Japanese automaker.
In terms of safety equipment, the car has many driving assistance features such as forward collision warning, emergency steering assistance, “cut-in” warning, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, active steering assistance, blind-spot warning, collision warning when opening doors, rear collision warning, electronic parking assistance, front/rear dashcam, remote parking assistance, and 360-degree camera (displaying the area below the hood).
The Toyota Crown Sport 2024 HEV version is expected to be officially released in the Japanese market from November. Customers who want to buy the PHEV version will have to wait until December. According to the plan, Toyota will only produce and sell about 700 units per month, so the delivery time will be quite long.
