The SP version represents the top-of-the-line Monster family, equipped with many new features and technologies. One of the new details that can be seen at first glance is the MotoGP-inspired fairing, inspired by the Desmo GP bikes of the Ducati Lenovo Team racing team.
The new Monster SP version becomes even sportier and more dynamic. Although the engine, frame, and riding position remain unchanged, almost every other aspect of the Monster SP has been refreshed.
The 2023 Ducati Monster SP is now upgraded to the Ohlins NIX 30 suspension system at the front and STX 36 at the rear. In addition, this suspension system also makes the bike have a higher ground clearance and lighter weight compared to the regular version. Both can be adjusted electronically.
The braking system has also been upgraded with the use of radial Brembo Stylema calipers and 320mm discs, similar to those used on superbikes and believed to be lighter than before. This is said to not only provide better braking feel but also reduce steering effort and braking inertia.
The overall weight of the new Monster SP is also reduced by approximately 2 kg (wet weight is reduced to 185 kg and dry weight is reduced to 166 kg) by using a lithium-ion battery, other additional features include an intelligent Termignoni exhaust and sportier Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires.
Ducati has stated that all riding modes on this new Monster SP have been adjusted to suit its sporty characteristics and a “Wet” riding mode has also been added to provide more safety when riding in the rain, along with Sport and Touring modes. Other rider assistance systems include: Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Quickshift, and more.
