In the segment of sport scooters for men in the Vietnamese market, there is a new addition called the Honda ADV 150. The bike is imported to Vietnam through a private import store with a price of 85 million VND for the CBS version and 90 million VND for the ABS 2-channel version (including VAT). Meanwhile, the Yamaha NVX 155 is sold by the official dealer with prices ranging from 46 to 52 million VND depending on the version. With a price tag of about 40 million VND higher than its competitor, this is considered one of the main obstacles for the Honda ADV 150 in accessing customers in Vietnam.
The Honda ADV 150 is a completely new scooter model from Honda. It was officially introduced at the GIIAS International Auto Show in Jakarta, Indonesia in July 2019. This model competes with other scooters in the same segment such as the Yamaha Aerox in Indonesia (also known as the NVX 155 in the Vietnamese market).
The Honda ADV 150 2019 features a design that shares many similarities with the X-ADV off-road bike, which was first introduced at the EICMA exhibition in 2016 and was also the first model to be imported privately to Saigon in mid-June 2017.
Although the two models share a similar name, the ADV 150 has a less aggressive look compared to the X-ADV, making it more suitable for a small-displacement scooter. The Honda ADV 150 2019 is equipped with LED headlights, 14-inch wheels with front and rear tires measuring 110/80 and 120/70 respectively. In addition, the scooter is equipped with Nissin hydraulic disc brakes, ABS, Showa suspension system, and an LCD display.
On the other hand, the Yamaha NVX 155 has a sporty design with aerodynamic lines commonly found in larger displacement sport bikes. The NVX has a large size, with dimensions of 1,990mm in length, 700mm in width, and 1,125mm in height. The wheelbase is 1,350mm, the seat height is 790mm, and the ground clearance is 140mm.
The Yamaha NVX 155 features dual LED headlights inspired by the sport bike YZF-R3. The headlights use 4 LED bulbs, with the inner 2 bulbs activated during low beam mode. When the high beam mode is activated, all 4 bulbs illuminate, creating an impressive visual effect. The scooter also features LED taillights, while the turn signals use halogen bulbs.
In terms of performance, both scooters are equipped with modern engines. The Honda ADV 150 2019 features a 149.3cc single-cylinder SOHC engine with a maximum power output of 14.5 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 13.8 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The Yamaha NVX 155 is equipped with a 155cc BlueCore SOHC single-cylinder engine with variable valve actuation (VVA) technology. This engine produces a maximum power output of 14.8 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 13.8 Nm at 6,250 rpm.
Both scooters come with advanced features such as smart key systems, large storage compartments, and digital displays. The Honda ADV 150 2019 is available in both CBS and ABS versions, while the Yamaha NVX 155 offers ABS as an option for higher-end and limited editions.
In conclusion, the Honda ADV 150 and Yamaha NVX 155 are both excellent sport scooters in their respective segments. While the Honda ADV 150 offers a more rugged and off-road inspired design, the Yamaha NVX 155 has a more aggressive and sporty look. Both scooters provide powerful performance, advanced features, and comfortable riding experiences. Customers in Vietnam can choose between the two based on their preferences and budget.
