The Mitsubishi XRT Concept comes with front and rear mudguards, off-road tires, and a snorkel. In simple terms, Mitsubishi has equipped the XRT Concept similarly to the award-winning AXCR Ralliart Triton pickup from last year.
Despite Mitsubishi’s efforts to disguise the truck’s lines under camouflage paint, we can still see that the new generation Triton will look like a larger and taller version of the Xpander Cross when viewed from the front. The car features split headlights with daytime running LEDs above and main headlights below.
The XRT Concept also shows that Mitsubishi has completely removed the J-line design feature that we saw in the 4th and 5th generation Triton models to have a more boxy appearance. Personally, I think the XRT Concept has a very beautiful and cool look.
The previous two generations of the Triton pickup truck were known to have one of the most comfortable rear seats in its segment. But now, it seems that Mitsubishi has traded the comfort of rear passengers for more space in the truck bed.
The rear of the XRT Concept is hidden with disguised taillights, but the raised lines indicate that the next generation Triton will have larger taillights compared to the previous version.
Currently, Mitsubishi is still keeping the details of the next generation Triton’s drivetrain system a secret. However, it seems that we won’t have to wait long as Mitsubishi has revealed plans to launch this pickup truck before the production version of the XFC Concept in August.
Notably, this new Triton model will also serve as the platform for the next generation Nissan Navara pickup truck as part of their platform sharing process within the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance.
