When it comes to exterior design, you will easily distinguish the all-new 2024 Lexus GX from its predecessor thanks to its new body design. Looking at the sides of the car, the GX 2024 reminds one of the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series model.
The slim grille of Lexus blends nicely with the vertical design to ensure that the front end of the car is not too contrasting with the rest of the body. The combination of the headlights and the LED daytime running lights looks very sharp, while the large and boxy mirrors follow the classic Cruiser style.
Moving to the rear, you can see that the design is not overly complicated, with an LED strip running across the width of the car’s tail, combined with the newly standard power-adjustable tailgate.
The 2024 Lexus GX is longer than 70 mm and wider than 95 mm compared to the previous generation, while the wheelbase is extended by an additional 60 mm. This luxury SUV has a total length of 5,005 mm, a width of 2,117 mm, and depending on the type of tires, the height of the car ranges from 1,915–1,935 mm.
The Lexus GX 2024 will be available in 6 versions: Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail, and Overtrail+. The last two completely new editions are optimized for off-road capabilities.
In addition to the rugged exterior in two tones, one of the highlights of the 2024 Lexus GX Overtrail is its equipped All-Terrain 33-inch tires wrapped around 18-inch standard wheels. To keep the tires inside the body, the GX Overtrail models have bulging wheel arches that look muscular, while the aluminum skid plate is a standard feature.
Furthermore, the Overtrail+ models feature improved front seats, designed to provide “optimal off-road comfort” and incorporate massage and additional power-adjustment functions for the driver’s seat.
Transitioning to the new generation, Lexus GX 2024 has removed the V8 engine and replaced it with a twin-turbo V6 engine of 3.4L. The new engine generates a maximum power of 349 horsepower and a peak torque of 650 Nm, meaning it is stronger than the old V8 engine by 48 horsepower and 46 Nm.
At the time of launch, the 2024 GX currently only comes with one engine, but Lexus promises a hybrid drivetrain system will be introduced in the near future.
The V6 engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, accompanied by a standard full-time 4WD system and a Torsen limited-slip differential.
Moving inside, the new Lexus GX has received significant improvements in its interior, drawing inspiration from the Lexus RX and LM. The air vents have been lowered in the dashboard to accommodate the large 14-inch screen that supports wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connections. Fortunately, there are still physical buttons for controlling the air conditioning and audio systems.
The car comes in both 7-seater and 6-seater configurations. The 6-seater version will have the second row consisting of two independent seats. Inside the car, users can find about 12 cup holders, 6 charging ports, and a 120V power outlet to easily charge electronic devices.
The 2024 Lexus GX will be available for sale in early 2024. The car will be manufactured at the Tahara plant in Japan. Currently, the price of the new-generation GX has not been announced, while the current version is priced from $59,775 in the US.
