Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) held the global launch event of the Suzuki Jimny 5-door at the Auto Expo 2023 exhibition. This stylish off-road SUV will be launched in the Indian market first before expanding to other international markets.
The 5-door version of the Suzuki Jimny is developed on a ladder frame chassis. The car is equipped with a multi-link suspension system and Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system. AllGrip Pro allows the Suzuki Jimny 5-door to have superior off-road capabilities.
Developed based on the philosophy of ‘Purity of Function’, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door has a square body ratio and distinctive design elements such as clamshell hood, vertical slots in the front grille, and round headlights.
The interior uses predominantly black color, combined with silver accents to highlight the brand’s characteristic functional elements. The instrument panel and center control cluster are designed to maximize the driver’s perception of the vehicle’s angles when driving on rough terrain.
In terms of equipment, the car is equipped with the Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system with a 9-inch HD screen, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Arkamys audio, six airbags, anti-lock braking system, hill start assist, rearview camera, ABS with EBD.
The Suzuki Jimny 5-door has an overall length of 3,985 mm including the spare tire, a width of 1,645 mm, and a height of 1,720 mm with a wheelbase of 2,590 mm.
The luggage compartment capacity is 208 liters (332 liters when the rear seats are folded), and the ground clearance is 210 mm. The car has an approach angle of 36 degrees and a departure angle of 50 degrees.
In terms of performance, the car is equipped with a 1.5L mild hybrid petrol engine with a maximum power of 105 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 134 Nm at 4,400 rpm. The engine is paired with a standard 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission as an option.
