According to the plan, GSM is expected to launch its electric taxi service in Laos in 2023, with a fleet size of up to 1,000 VF 5 Plus and VF e34 cars. Initially, GSM will develop the electric taxi service, aiming to develop a complete service ecosystem, including electric car rentals and value-added services such as package booking, travel booking, and personalized car booking.
Besides its own operations, in the future, GSM Laos Company will also implement B2B activities such as selling and renting VinFast electric cars, similar to the successful model being implemented in Vietnam.
With diverse access methods, GSM will gradually foster the habit of using green, smart, and environmentally friendly means of transportation in daily life in Laos, offering local residents a premium travel experience without noise or emissions. Through Xanh SM taxi, GSM will also contribute to promoting the pride of Vietnam – VinFast in the regional market.
Laos is a neighboring country of Vietnam, with policies that support and encourage the use of electric vehicles in government agencies as well as among the general public. The national target is to have 30% of the total circulating vehicles be electric cars and 200 public charging stations by 2030. According to data from the Laos Ministry of Finance and Transport, as of the end of 2022, there were 1,326 registered electric cars in circulation. In the first four months of 2023 alone, an additional 526 electric cars were imported into Laos. Currently, the charging station system in Laos is also being invested in and constructed, with 17 locations already operational.
GSM was established and launched operations in Vietnam in April 2023, following the world’s first multi-platform green transportation model with a 100% electric fleet. In just 6 months of operation, GSM achieved record growth in scale and speed, carrying out over 6 million passenger transport trips and receiving high praise from both consumers and transportation units.
According to the plan, from now until the end of 2023, Xanh SM will be present in 27 out of 63 provinces and cities in Vietnam, and the fleet size will increase to 30,000 electric taxis and over 90,000 electric motorcycles in the near future.
Parallel to the Vietnamese market, GSM is also expanding its reach to the region and the world to become a global-scale ride-hailing start-up, initially targeting the ASEAN market, and contributing to accelerating the goal of a green future for humanity.
