Toyota has not disclosed much, but the main upgrades are in the interior of the car. Specifically, the changes in “soft materials” as well as the addition of “steel accent points” on the XLE, Limited, and Platinum versions. In addition, Toyota has also announced a starting price of $40,050 USD, slightly higher than the previous version, and the XLE version comes with laminated front glass, LED headlights, and 19-inch wheels.
Moving inside, the cabin is spacious with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment system. Other highlights include 8-way power-adjustable heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a wireless smartphone charger. Customers will also have a dual-zone automatic climate control and auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink system.
The Toyota Crown is equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 driver assistance system, including dynamic radar cruise control at maximum speed range, lane departure assist, and pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection feature. This system is combined with automatic headlights, road sign assist, and lane departure warning with steering assist. The model also has blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
Power is provided by the hybrid powertrain, which includes a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, two electric motors using nickel-metal hydride batteries. This setup gives the sedan a total output of 236 horsepower.
On the top-of-the-line Platinum version, it is equipped with better headlights, rain-sensing wipers, panoramic sunroof, and larger 21-inch alloy wheels with optional two-tone paint. Additionally, the car is equipped with a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. Customers are also provided with leather upholstery on the premium JBL 11-speaker audio system. Furthermore, the additional safety system includes lane change assist, congestion assist, front cross-traffic alert, advanced parking assist, and 360-degree monitor.
The Platinum version is notable for its Hybrid Max powertrain, combining a 2.4L turbocharged engine with an e-Axle electric motor for a total output of 340 horsepower and a maximum torque of 542 Nm.
