As shared before, the SUGO race track is likened to a “roller coaster” with 14 tight corners and continuous uphill and downhill slopes. This is truly a daunting challenge for the 3 riders of the Honda Racing Vietnam team. And the results of Race 3 reflect this.
However, with the 10 points earned and valuable experience gained in difficult conditions, the riders and the whole team will accumulate valuable experience for the remaining 2 stages of the ARRC 2022 season as well as future seasons.
Efforts to earn valuable points for the first time at SUGO
Before racing at SUGO, the riders and the Honda Racing Vietnam team only knew about this race track through the information provided by the organizers. The whole team had only about 3 days to familiarize themselves with the environment here, and even the 3 riders, Cao Viet Nam, Nguyen Anh Tuan, and Nguyen Duc Thanh, only walked around to observe and imagine how to race.
Rider Cao Viet Nam earns another 8 points at Race 3 of ARRC 2022.
“I did 2 laps around the track to observe the roads, the corners, and then the team calculated the appropriate racing style,” shared rider Cao Viet Nam.
SUGO is a big challenge for rider #65.
“SUGO is a big challenge. The road surface is very beautiful but because it is built on hilly terrain, there are many twisty corners, continuous up and down slopes, making it very difficult to see the next corner. Therefore, calculating and choosing the right racing style is very important to achieve good results,” shared rider Cao Viet Nam.
“Corners 9 and 10 are the biggest challenges, not only because of the slopes but also because of the two consecutive high-speed left turns,” rider #65 added.
Efforts to continue the race helped Cao Viet Nam to finish 11th in Race 1.
A memorable point in Race 3 is the effort to continue the race by rider Cao Viet Nam in Race 1 when competing in the rain and slippery road conditions. This excellent effort helped the rider of Honda Racing Vietnam finish 11th and earn an additional 5 points in the AP250 standings.
In the UB150 category, rider Nguyen Anh Tuan also earned 2 points with a 14th place finish in Race 2.
Rider Nguyen Anh Tuan also earned 2 points with a 14th place finish in Race 2.
“After competing in this challenging race, I have gained a lot of experience and believe that I will improve in the final stage of the season,” said rider Nguyen Anh Tuan.
With the accumulated experience from Race 3, Anh Tuan is confident of achieving better results in the remaining 2 stages of the season.
So far, after the first 3 stages of the ARRC 2022 season, rider Cao Viet Nam has 34 points in the AP250 category, ranking 11th out of 21 riders.
Nguyen Duc Thanh has earned 11 points after the first 3 stages of the ARRC 2022 season.
Meanwhile, rider Nguyen Anh Tuan has earned 18 points, while Nguyen Duc Thanh remains at 11 points.
Stage 4 of the ARRC 2022 season is scheduled to take place at the Sepang race track (Malaysia) in October.
