The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 PHEV is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine combined with an electric motor for a total output of 536 horsepower.
Mercedes-AMG recently introduced the GLE 53 PHEV with two variants, the crossover and crossover-coupe. Regardless of the body style, the GLE 53 PHEV is equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain featuring a 3.0-liter inline-6 petrol engine with 443 horsepower combined with an electric motor for a total output of 536 horsepower and a maximum torque of 749 Nm.
With the aforementioned power, this crossover model accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in just 4.6 seconds before reaching a top speed of 250 km/h. However, if the car operates in electric mode, the maximum speed is limited to 140 km/h.
The vehicle is equipped with a 31.2 kWh battery pack, but the electric range has not been announced.
The GLE 53 PHEV is significantly more powerful than the GLE 53 Hybrid variant introduced earlier this year (which features a mild hybrid powertrain with 429 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque).
Mercedes-AMG stated that the GLE 53 PHEV is equipped with 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system and AMG Ride Control+ air suspension with specially developed adaptive shock absorbers. The vehicle also features 15.7-inch front discs and 14.6-inch rear discs with 6-piston calipers. In addition, the company has upgraded the chassis system of this sports crossover model and added new driving modes.
The exterior of the GLE 53 PHEV is nearly identical to the standard version, with slight adjustments to the air intakes and the addition of the PHEV logo on the front mudguards and tailgate. Inside the vehicle, there are functions specific to the hybrid version and a display for charging speed, status, and battery temperature.
Mercedes-AMG will launch the GLE 53 PHEV in the United States at the end of 2025, before starting sales in 2026. The German automaker has not announced the price of the GLE 53 PHEV, but it is certain that the car will be significantly more expensive than the standard version.
