Toyota EPU is an all-electric pickup truck developed on a monocoque platform and will compete with Ford Maverick or Hyundai Santa Cruz.
Toyota EPU is one of the notable models that will be showcased at the Japan Motor Show 2023 taking place from 26/10 – 5/11. This is a small-size all-electric pickup truck developed on a monocoque chassis.
According to the announcement, Toyota EPU has a double cab pickup design with 5 seats, with an overall length of about 5 meters and a 3.35-meter wheelbase, while the width and height are about 1.8 meters. These dimensions of the Toyota EPU are similar to some small-size gasoline-powered pickup trucks such as Ford Maverick or Hyundai Santa Cruz. The cargo bed is relatively small, with a square-fold opening that expands the storage space in necessary cases.
Regarding the interior, the images released by the Japanese automaker show that Toyota EPU has a futuristic cabin space with a large display screen, minimalist control panel, and rectangular steering wheel.
Toyota has not yet revealed information about the performance equipment of the EPU. However, being equipped with off-road tires indicates that this electric pickup truck is likely to have a dual-motor drivetrain.
