The pre-launch images provide a glimpse of the new version of the Kia Sonet compact SUV adopting the brand’s new design language.

Sonet is a compact SUV closely related to the Hyundai Venue and positioned below the Seltos in the Kia product lineup. The model was first introduced in 2020 with a focus on India, China, and emerging markets. However, as trends evolved, some of its original design elements became outdated, leading to the need for innovation.

The upgraded Kia Sonet is scheduled to be launched later this year. Prior to that, the appearance of this South Korean SUV has been revealed through images released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The 2024 Kia Sonet applies the brand’s new design language, similar to its “big brother” Seltos 2023. The car features a new logo with stylized KIA lettering, replacing the oval emblem. The extended headlights integrate LED daytime running lights and new turn signals with a star map-inspired design.

The highlight at the rear is the new taillights with C-shaped graphics, connected by a LED strip that spans across the trunk. Additionally, the front and rear bumpers of the car have also been refined.

It is currently unclear whether the 2024 Kia Sonet’s engine will be upgraded or not. In its current version, the car is offered with 3 engine options. The first is a 1.2L petrol engine with a maximum power of 83 horsepower and maximum torque of 115 Nm. The second is a turbocharged 1.0L petrol engine with 120 horsepower and 172 Nm. Meanwhile, the 1.5L diesel engine delivers a maximum power of 116 horsepower and maximum torque of 250 Nm.
