Although the production version of the KIA EV5 has been launched in China, we have only seen static photos of this model so far. Now, we can finally get a close look at the EV5 in a detailed video of the real car.
The KIA EV5 in the video has a sharp, stylish, and dynamic design. The car is equipped with 19-inch 4-spoke wheels instead of the 3-spoke ones on the concept version.
Through the video, we can also get a clear sense of the size of the EV5, which looks relatively small next to the host. This is not surprising as we already know that the car has an overall length of 4,615 mm and a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, equivalent to the dimensions of the Kia Sportage and Tesla Model Y.
In addition, we also get a close-up view of the interior of the KIA EV5 in real life. The cabin is inspired by the EV9, featuring a wide and minimalist dashboard like the EV9, as well as a panoramic widescreen display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The 4-spoke steering wheel integrates most of the controls, while Kia opts for physical buttons for the air conditioning. We can also see dual USB-C ports, wireless charging, and multiple storage compartments. The rear seats can be folded flat to provide ample cargo space.
Like the other members in the Hyundai/Kia electric vehicle family, the EV5 is expected to use the E-GMP platform. The Korean automaker has not released the electric drivetrain specifications at this time. However, based on leaked documents from China, we know that the Kia EV5 for the Chinese market will be equipped with a single electric motor producing 215 horsepower and a maximum torque of 310 Nm, coupled with front-wheel drive.
