According to the latest Industrial Property Gazette published by the Intellectual Property Office, Daihatsu – a subsidiary of the Toyota group, has registered an industrial design protection in Vietnam for the new generation Toyota Vios model.
This indicates that it is highly likely that the latest generation of Vios will soon be launched in our country, replacing the current facelift version.
The new generation (fourth generation) Toyota Vios has been available for sale in many countries in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Laos, and Malaysia. There have also been rumors about its release in Vietnam in 2022. However, contrary to expectations, the Toyota Vios 2023, which was launched on May 10th, is only a minor upgrade with slight changes to the front of the car and the addition of new equipment.
The fourth-generation Toyota Vios, developed by Daihatsu, was involved in a safety testing scandal with the ASEAN NCAP in April this year. This incident drew criticism of both Daihatsu and the Toyota parent company. The car model was retested and still met the safety standards, so it continued to be sold on the market.
Based on the completely new Daihatsu New Global Platform (DNGA), the new generation Toyota Vios has a longer wheelbase than its predecessor, providing a more spacious and comfortable interior.
The design of the new generation Toyota Vios undergoes a comprehensive transformation compared to its predecessor. The front of the car impresses with its angular LED headlights and a large-sized trapezoidal grille. Horizontally, the B-segment sedan appears sportier with its fastback style. The rear of the car stands out with a decorative strip on the edge of the trunk lid, connected to the smaller, more angular taillights, giving it a sturdy and modern look.
The interior of the new Vios generation features a minimalist and modern design, with a centrally placed 8-9-inch touchscreen integrated with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. In addition, the car is equipped with a range of high-end interior equipment beyond its segment, such as electronic parking brake, adjustable 64-color LED ambient lighting, smart Start/Stop system, push-button start, and smart key…
The new Vios also comes with the Toyota Safety Sense safety technology package. On the top-end version, the car features intelligent safety functions including pre-collision warning, lane departure warning, forward vehicle movement warning, pedal misoperation protection, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, reverse cross-traffic warning, rear/front view cameras, and panoramic view camera.
The new generation Toyota Vios is equipped with a 1.2L 4-cylinder gasoline engine, delivering a power of 94 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a torque of 110 Nm at 4,400 rpm, combined with a Super CVT-I continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive.
