Rapper Binz, whose real name is Le Nguyen Trung Dan, is one of the few artists who are into vintage cars. Binz’s 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7 used to be part of a vintage car collection in Ho Chi Minh City and is extremely rare in Vietnam.
However, unlike its previous red paint, Binz’s Mercury Cougar XR-7 is now adorned with a silver chrome decal.
It is this unique decal that makes the car look like a mobile mirror on the road.
In addition, the Mecury Cougar XR-7 also stands out with its headlights: when not in use, this cluster of lights will be folded down.
The taillights are elongated on both sides and are adorned with vertical chrome bars for added protection.
For those unfamiliar with the name Mercury, it is a luxury brand under Ford. The Mercury Cougar was produced from 1967 to 2002, featuring a muscular American-style design.
The car is equipped with original bright alloy wheels, measuring 14 inches, and still in shiny condition.
Returning to the subject, Binz’s car belongs to the first generation (1967 – 1970), which was exclusively produced for the United States market.
The Mercury Couga XJ7 is equipped with a front-mounted V8 engine. It is currently unknown which type of engine Binz’s car uses. However, this model has engine options of 4.7 liters, 6.4 liters, 4.9 liters, 5.8 liters, and 7 liters. The most powerful variant has a power output of 335 horsepower and a torque of 597 Nm. It has a 4-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.
The selling price of the Mercury Cougar when it was first launched in the United States was about $2,900. Currently, a first-generation Mercury Cougar in foreign markets has a selling price of nearly $50,000, equivalent to over 1 billion Vietnamese dong.
