Recently, BMW has officially launched the new generation of its small SUV model, the X2. The German carmaker has also introduced for the first time an all-electric version called the iX2 for this luxury SUV line.
According to the plan, the iX2 2024 will be globally premiered at the Japan Auto Exhibition on October 26th. The car will be available for sale in March next year with one version being the iX2 xDrive30.
Providing power for the BMW iX2 are 2 electric motors located on the front and rear axles, with a total output of 309 horsepower and a maximum torque of 494 Nm. This power enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 km/h.
The electric motor is combined with a 64.8 kWh battery pack, providing a maximum range of 417-449 km after a full charge, according to the WLTP test cycle.
If using the standard 11 kW slow charger, it will take about 6.5 hours to fully charge the car. When using the 22 kW AC slow charger, it will take around 3 hours and 45 minutes to fully charge the battery. And with the 130 kW DC fast charger, it will take about 30 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.
Besides having a different drivetrain, the BMW iX2 2024 also has some distinctive design elements to easily distinguish it from other models.
The car is equipped with a kidney grille in a closed shape, accompanied by a blue accent on the headlight system. The exhaust pipe at the rear of the car has been removed and replaced by a charging port located on the right side of the car body.
The wheels of the BMW iX2 2024 are also designed differently from the version with an internal combustion engine. Most other details remain the same as the new X2 model.
The electric version still has the following dimensions: 4,554 x 1,844 x 1,590 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,692 mm.
In terms of the interior, the cabin space of the BMW iX2 is quite similar to that of the regular BMW X2 model. The car is equipped with a large screen placed on the dashboard, integrated with a digital instrument cluster and a touch screen in the center. The highlight of the car’s technology is the BMW Operating System 9 with an interface inspired by smartphones, fully supporting Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and integrating an AI assistant.
In addition, the car is also equipped with modern convenience features such as automatic air conditioning, rear-seat air vents, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, electric parking brake, and automatic temporary brake hold.
Currently, the price of the BMW iX2 2024 has not been revealed yet.
