The Morgan brand is still familiar to car enthusiasts in Vietnam through the Aero SuperSports model. While this model has a modern flavor on a classic overall, the Plus 4 is pure tradition. A rare Morgan Plus 4 is displayed in a showroom specializing in supercars and luxury cars in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Morgan Plus 4 looks small in the showroom next to the Rolls-Royce Wraith. The overall dimensions of the car are 4,010 x 1,720 x 1,220 mm in length, width, and height respectively. These dimensions are equivalent to regular B-segment cars. The car is relatively light, weighing only 927 kg. The chassis is made of Autophoretic-coated steel.
Compared to the Rolls-Royce Wraith, the Morgan Plus 4 is much smaller.
At first glance, the Plus 4 easily makes people think that this is a decades-old car. In reality, Morgan has maintained the same design since the 1950s and only changed the technology. The car is still being produced in Worcestershire, United Kingdom.
The convertible car means a longer front of the car. The grille creates the characteristic arched shape of cars from a century ago. Halogen headlamps, turn signals, and rear lights all have a round, large design and are protruding.
Details such as the split opening bonnet, the pointed front in the middle, or the spare tire placed at the rear of the car create a vintage sports car style. Many shiny steel parts create luxury, including classic spoke rims.
Few people would think that a car with such a vintage design is still being produced.
In contrast to the white exterior, the interior is “bordeaux” red. Almost the entire cabin is wrapped in leather, with a few wooden details such as the steering wheel and front control panel. The speedometer and tachometer are placed in the middle, while the fuel and temperature gauges are behind the steering wheel.
No entertainment features can be found in the Morgan Plus 4. No speakers, radio, or CD player, the car only serves those who are passionate about experiencing the outside world while driving.
Luxurious interior but simple because there are no entertainment features.
The car’s engine is a 2-liter 4-cylinder type produced by Ford. This engine produces 154 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 201 Nm of torque, combined with a 5-speed automatic transmission from Mazda. According to the manufacturer’s announcement, the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 189 km/h.
Of course, the Morgan Plus 4 is not built for drivers to experience speed. The car lacks ABS, electronic stability control, and there are no airbags. The car will be more suitable for Vietnamese billionaires who love collecting cars and occasionally want to take it for a spin.
The starting price for a new car in the UK is around $42,000 (950 million VND). When imported to Vietnam, the car will have to bear transportation fees, 70% import tax, 40% special consumption tax, and registration fees…
