For affected Lexus NX350 vehicles, the controller may falsely detect the overcurrent of the electronic parking brake actuator and switch to backup mode.
Lexus Vietnam has issued a recall notice to update the brake control software on Lexus NX350 vehicles produced between November 29, 2021, and June 29, 2022, which are officially imported and distributed by TMV. The program is expected to be implemented by Lexus Vietnam from October 17, 2022, at all Lexus dealerships nationwide. According to information provided by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), there are 24 affected Lexus vehicles in Vietnam.
According to TMC, the brake control unit, which controls the parking brake actuator while the vehicle is in motion or activates the electronic parking brake, may falsely detect the overcurrent of the electronic parking brake actuator and switch to backup mode.

For affected vehicles, the controller may falsely detect the overcurrent of the electronic parking brake actuator and switch to backup mode. At that time, the malfunction warning light will illuminate, and the message “Parking Brake Malfunction, Visit Your Dealer” will be displayed on the multi-information display. The system will also prevent the electronic parking brake from transitioning between the engaged and disengaged states.
If the electronic parking brake cannot transition to the engaged state, the driver may ignore the warning light and message on the multi-information display. The vehicle may stay on a slope without being in the P position, increasing the risk of collision.
According to the content of the recall program, Lexus Vietnam will apply a new software version to improve the brake control function.
Dealerships will check the brake control software version and provide free software updates if the customer’s vehicle has an outdated software version. The expected update time is 0.9 hours per vehicle.
Lexus Vietnam stated that owners of affected vehicles in the recall program will receive invitations or phone notifications from Lexus dealerships. In addition, customers can learn more information by visiting the website www.lexus.com.vn or contacting Lexus dealerships nationwide or the hotline of Lexus Vietnam.
For non-genuine imported Lexus vehicles subject to recalls as announced by TMC, when requested by the owner, Lexus Vietnam will assist in contacting TMC to obtain information. After receiving confirmation and agreement from TMC, authorized Lexus dealerships will perform free inspections/updates for customers.
In early September, the Lexus NX250 and NX350 were also recalled in the United States, with over 19,000 vehicles affected by the same issue. Additionally, over 64,000 Toyota Tundra vehicles were affected in the same recall campaign.
The price of the Lexus NX350 is currently quoted by dealerships in the Vietnamese market ranging from 2.6 billion VND to 3.5 billion VND.
