The South Korean luxury electric sedan model Genesis G80 EV’s water ability is being seriously considered by the distributor Hyundai Thanh Cong.
On the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Hyundai Thanh Cong automobile manufacturing plant HTMV 2 in Gian Khau Industrial Zone, Gia Vien, Ninh Binh; the distributor has cleverly arranged a fleet of luxury cars – belonging to the highest-end product line of the Genesis brand – including G90 Limousine, G90, and G80 EV electric version. It can be seen that this modern luxury fleet is the brightest stars in the evening of the inauguration ceremony.
During the opening ceremony of the HTMV 2 plant complex, representatives from South Korea shared that they would bring the extremely remarkable electric car duo – Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid (plug-in hybrid version) to be assembled right at the company’s plant complex in Ninh Binh province. Furthermore, according to dealer sources, the Genesis luxury trio consisting of G90, G90 Limousine, and G80 EV are being considered to be brought to Vietnam.
If true, this would be a milestone that clearly affirms the position and development speed of the Vietnamese market in the eyes of international investors – in this case, the South Korean giant brand – the owner of globally renowned brands such as Kia, Hyundai, and Genesis. The Vietnamese market not only has customers in the mid-range segment anymore; wealthy and young users are also very potential for the company to research and explore for business purposes.
Regarding the Genesis G80 EV, this is a high-end electric sedan model. The overall dimensions of the car are: 5,005 x 1,925 x 1,475 mm. The wheelbase of the G80 EV is 3,010mm – equivalent to the internationally renowned Mercedes-Benz EQE from the German three-pointed star brand. The version displayed by HTV in Ninh Binh on November 15 has a white exterior paint color, with a two-tone interior.
According to information released in South Korea, the Genesis G80 EV is equipped with two 136kW electric motors, both front and rear, forming an AWD drivetrain with a total output of up to 272 kW (equivalent to 365 horsepower and a maximum torque of 700 Nm). It is accompanied by an 87.2 kWh Lithium-Ion battery system; along with a series of advanced operating technologies, such as: regenerative braking, electronically adjustable suspension system, multiple driving modes, thermal energy pump system, and automatic battery drying system. The car’s electric charging port is cleverly hidden behind the diamond-shaped grille at the front of the car.
In terms of overall design, the Genesis G80 EV follows a sophisticated and modern design language, similar to its famous siblings in the family such as the G90 and GV90 SUV. The highlight is the full LED lighting system from front to back with a very beautiful dual-stripe design. Notable exterior features include large Michelin branded tires up to 19 inches and elegant turbine-style multi-spoke wheels.
The car is equipped with a two-layer soundproof, heat-insulating, and UV-resistant glass system. Chrome strips appear throughout the car from the front, along the body, and around the windows to the rear of the car. The car’s tail (of course) does not have the presence of exhaust pipes. However, the South Korean luxury manufacturer still retains small air vents to increase the sportiness and youthfulness of the electric sedan.
As a luxury segment model, the most notable features are inside the car: the cabin is flooded with premium materials including Nappa leather, glossy wood, or metallic aluminum trim details. Of course, it cannot be without the interior ambient lighting system or the intricately highlighted stitching details, showcasing the position and class of the passengers sitting in the car.
Genesis G80 EV uses many modern technologies in the car, such as: an 8-inch size display screen behind the steering wheel, an electronic Shift-By-Wire gear shift knob, a Genesis Touch Controller multifunction touch control knob, a power adjustment system for energy recovery through the accelerator (similar to its sibling IONIQ 5 with the ability to control the car with just one pedal – both accelerating and braking)…
The luxury level of the car can be clearly seen through its “impressive” line of convenient features, including: wireless charging, digital smart key, touch-sensitive door handles, electric child lock control, power-adjustable heated steering wheel, independent dual-zone air conditioning with air filtration, and special V2L function with the ability to provide reverse power to electrical devices… (also present in its sibling IONIQ 5).
The car also features a versatile entertainment display screen with a width of up to 14.5 inches spanning the dashboard, along with a premium Lexicon 17-speaker entertainment surround sound system. It is accompanied by accompanying subscription services, convenient Genesis Car Pay payment solution, valet parking mode, streaming music entertainment service, wireless software update capability…
In the luxury car segment, safety features are a mandatory requirement and they are also highlighted on the Genesis G80 EV, including: high-speed driving assistance package including Intelligent Cruise Control with Stop & Go (follows the car in front – with satellite positioning support in turns), lane keeping assist, rear traffic monitoring – with parking guidance, front and rear collision avoidance assistance, blind spot warning…
The car is also equipped with 10 airbags around the cabin, anti-pinch windows, power trunk, vibrating steering wheel warning, intelligent headlights, driver attention monitoring, multiple collision avoidance automatic braking…
Just by glancing at the seats of the passengers on the car, the comfort that the Korean engineers have always prioritized for their electric sedan can be clearly seen. Some typical features include: natural leather seats, all 4 seats can be 12-way power-adjustable with memory and heating function, front seats with ventilation, front and rear seats with additional lumbar support, automatic retractable seats and steering wheel when entering and exiting the car, rear seats fold flat – through the trunk for long items.
In addition, users can choose to own a range of other optional amenities, such as: a head-up display (HUD) windshield, sunroof, premium 18-way power-adjustable ERGO driver’s seat with massage function, a 12.3-inch size 3D display behind the steering wheel, power adjustable curtains, in-car camera, paint protective film…
While the time for the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid to enter the Vietnamese market has been determined in 2023, the water capability of the Genesis G90, G90 Limousine, and especially the G80 EV is still uncertain. Hopefully, in the near future, the market will soon welcome this additional option, in order to compete with the Mercedes-Benz EQS and heat up the luxury electric vehicle segment.
