Recently, news about Truong My Lan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Van Thinh Phat Group, having acts of control, manipulation, and management of the entire activities of SCB, misappropriating over 304,000 billion dong has caused a stir in public opinion.

According to the investigation results of the police, the defendant Truong My Lan turned the leaders of SCB Bank and some individuals with important roles and positions in Van Thinh Phat Group into “executors” to commit acts of embezzlement of a particularly large amount of assets, affecting significantly the operations of the banking industry and the credibility of the State in economic management.

Currently, C03 has temporarily seized and secured assets related to Ms. Truong My Lan. Specifically, 1,266 original copies of land use certificates, 1,784 photocopies of land use certificates, a list of 269 rented houses and lands, 21 notarized contracts, 147 compensation agreements for land plots in the Phuoc Kien project, Nha Be district, Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, there are 22 assets which are vehicles (including 1 yacht, 2 ships, 19 cars) of Ms. Truong My Lan being attached, along with the seizure of some savings books, electronic devices, and other items.

The investigating agency also attached 1,237 real estate properties of related companies and more than 857 million SCB shares of the defendant Truong My Lan and individuals whose names are nominated by this defendant.

Prior to this, Truong My Lan had appeared multiple times alongside two Rolls-Royce luxury cars with the same tail number 88. Many people wonder if any of the seized assets include these two luxury cars.

According to netizens, the number 88 can be translated as “tam tai” which means “trip to death”. If the number 8 is placed horizontally, it also evokes the image of infinity.

It is known that the car with the license plate 51A-300.58 belongs to the Ghost Series I. It is unclear how much money Ms. Truong My Lan had to spend to buy this car. However, the estimated value must be from 10 to 18 billion dong.

Under the hood of the Rolls-Royce Ghost Series I is a twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V12 engine, producing 563 horsepower and 575 lb-ft of torque. This power is transmitted to the rear wheels through an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 250 km/h.

The remaining Rolls-Royce car with the license plate 51A – 359.88 belongs to the Phantom Year of the Dragon edition. The car is limited to 33 units for the Chinese market, but there are already 6 units in Vietnam. Among them, Bao Kien, Mr. Do Anh Dung also own this luxury car.

When it first entered the country, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Year of the Dragon had a price tag of no less than 32 billion dong.

Providing power for the Rolls-Royce Phantom Year of the Dragon is a 6.75-liter V12 engine, producing a maximum power of 453 horsepower at 5,350 rpm and a peak torque of 720 Nm at 3,500 rpm. 6-speed automatic transmission.
