Honda Vietnam intensifies motorcycle sports activities for the 2022 season

After being impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, Honda Vietnam (HVN) is set to ramp up its activities domestically and internationally in 2022.

HVN will continue to sponsor the Vietnam Motor Racing Championship (VMRC). In international competitions, Honda Racing Vietnam strives to compete in the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) and compete for the first time in the Asia Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup. In addition, the team continues to participate in training at regional and continental competitions such as the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance, Sepang 8 Hours Endurance, and Thailand Talent Cup (TTC).

Domestic competitions: Sponsorship of the Vietnam Motor Racing Championship 2022 (VMRC 2022)

The 2022 season marks the 4th year that HVN has sponsored the Vietnam Motor Racing Championship (VMRC). VMRC is a season-based racing series, with race results aggregated based on points accumulated from races held at standard and professional racing tracks such as 2K Racing Circuit (Binh Duong) and Dai Nam Racing Circuit (Binh Duong).

After 3 successful seasons, in the 2022 season, with the goal of developing the championship to be more in line with the races of other countries in the region, keeping up with technological trends and enhancing the experience with a brand-new sport motorcycle model launched in Vietnam for the first time, VMRC will introduce a completely new category, CBR150R, as well as upgrading the category for the Vietnamese racing team.

International competitions: Asia Road Racing Championship 2022 (ARRC 2022)

The Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) has been held since 1996 and is known as one of the most prestigious racing events in Asia and Oceania. The championship features 4 racing categories: UB150, AP250, SS600, and ASB1000.

The ARRC 2022 season is scheduled to start with 6 races held at major racing tracks in Asia. Honda Racing Vietnam will return to compete in the UB150 and AP250 categories with the aim of achieving good results after being impacted by the pandemic.

The Honda Racing Vietnam team participating in the ARRC 2022 competition includes the following riders: Rider Nguyen Duc Thanh #193 (participating in the UB150 category); Rider Nguyen Anh Tuan #178 (participating in the UB150 category); Rider Cao Viet Nam #65 (participating in the AP250 category).

Honda Racing Vietnam will compete in all 6 races in the UB150 and AP250 categories. The overall schedule for the 2022 season is as follows:

Training activities

In the goal of making motorcycle sports activities in Vietnam more professional, closer to international standards, HVN focuses on developing and training riders, as well as building a healthy motorcycle sports scene in Vietnam, specifically:

Training young riders domestically

The riders of Honda Racing Vietnam will directly participate in training young riders domestically in the Vietnam Talent Cup category – a race in VMRC, thereby discovering potential talents for the international racing team, Honda Racing Vietnam.

Motorcycle sports in Vietnam has just reached a new milestone when Nguyen Tran Duc Tai – the first young Vietnamese rider was selected to compete in the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup 2022 (IATC). IATC is a race organized by Dorna Sport (the organizer of MotoGP) for young and talented riders from Asia, as a gateway for riders to compete in Moto3, Moto2, and MotoGP categories, which belong to the top-tier MotoGP racing series.

The IATC 2022 season is scheduled to start in February 2022. The expected race schedule is as follows:

Dispatching technicians to participate in Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance EWC 2021 – 2022 and Sepang 8 Hours Endurance EWC 2022-2023

With the aim of helping team technicians learn more experience and skills in major international races, starting from 2017, HVN has sent a representative technician to join the technical team of Honda Asia – Dream Racing with SHOWA. In this season, one technician of the team will continue to be sent to work and learn experience, expected to participate in Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance in July 2022 and Sepang 8 Hours Endurance in December 2022.

Participating in the Thailand Talent Cup 2022 (TTC)

The Thailand Talent Cup is an annual domestic race organized by AP Honda (Thailand). Since 2018, AP Honda has provided opportunities for riders from Honda companies in the region to participate in races to help riders improve their experience and skills towards international standards.

Young rider Nguyen Ton Anh Phu – the defending champion of VMRC 2020 in the Vietnam Talent Cup category will continue the success of Honda Racing Vietnam by competing in this race. The race schedule will be shared in the upcoming announcements.
