Teramont X is a product developed by SAIC – Volkswagen joint venture. The car has a sporty design, equipped with modern features and a powerful engine with nearly 300 horsepower.
According to the plan, Volkswagen will officially launch the mid-size MPV model Viloran in the Vietnamese market at the end of this year. This car model is produced by the SAIC – Volkswagen joint venture and imported directly from China. After Viloran, Volkswagen will continue to introduce several models imported from China to Vietnam this year or early next year. One of them is the Teramont X.
Teramont X, also known as Atlas Cross Sport or Teramont Cross Sport, is a version of the Volkswagen Teramont developed for customers in China, produced by SAIC – Volkswagen. The car is developed on the Volkswagen’s MQB platform, with dimensions of 4,917 x 1,989 x 1,729 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,980 mm.
Teramont X has a youthful and sporty design, with a smoothly sloping roof towards the rear in SUV – coupe style. The car is equipped with a two-layer LED matrix headlight cluster, incorporating Volkswagen’s signature “L” shaped LED daytime running lights. The horizontal grille is retained on this model, but the chrome strip is removed to create a more robust appearance. This SUV model is offered with various options of different wheel designs, ranging from 18 to 21 inches. At the rear, the two side taillights are designed quite modern and connected by a glossy black strip. The rear bumper is square, with two fake exhaust tips.
Despite its large size, the Volkswagen Teramont X only has a two-row seating configuration with 5 seats. However, the car has a fairly large luggage compartment volume, up to 540 liters or 1,719 liters with the rear seats folded.
The interior features and layout of Teramont X are more modern than the currently available version in Vietnam. The prominent equipment of this SUV model includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-inch center touchscreen, a Harman Kardon 12-speaker sound system, a head-up display, electronic parking brake, and wireless phone charging.
In the Chinese market, Teramont X is offered with 2 engine options. The first is a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 220 horsepower and maximum torque of 350 Nm. The second is a 2.5L V6 petrol engine, turbocharged, producing 299 horsepower and 500 Nm. Both engines are paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and 4Motion all-wheel drive system. The average fuel consumption of the 2.0L engine is 8.64 liters/100 km, while the corresponding figure for the V6 version is 9.7 liters/100 km.
In the Chinese market, the Volkswagen Teramont X is currently sold with prices ranging from 284,900 to 395,000 Chinese Yuan (equivalent to approximately 966 million to 1.34 billion VND). Meanwhile, the Teramont currently sold in Vietnam is imported as a whole unit from the US with a price of 2.349 billion VND.
