Skoda has officially introduced the next generation for its third best-selling model, the Kodiaq. The car will be available in both 5-seat and 7-seat variants.
In the new generation, Skoda’s flagship SUV is larger and more spacious than its predecessor, with new technologies. The available drivetrain options include petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid (PHEV), with the plug-in hybrid version offering 201 horsepower and a pure electric range of over 100 km.
Similar to most core models of the brand, Skoda has applied an evolutionary design from the previous generation to the new Kodiaq. The car still retains the distinctive features and certain proportions from its predecessor, but it appears sharper thanks to new elements from the brand’s ‘Modern Solid’ design language. Exterior design updates include smoother body surfaces and modern features like full LED Matrix headlights.
Moving inside, the interior of the 2024 Skoda Kodiaq features a modern and minimalist design. The car is equipped with a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a heads-up display. The central control cluster has also been redesigned for a cleaner look.
The new Kodiaq has a length of 4,758 mm, a width of 1,864 mm, and a height of 1,657 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,791 mm, making it 61 mm longer than the previous generation and 110 mm longer than the all-electric Skoda Enyaq.
The Skoda Kodiaq 2024 has class-leading spacious boot capacity, reaching 920 litres in the 5-seat version, which is 75 litres more than its predecessor. The 7-seat version has a luggage capacity ranging from 340-845 litres. Additionally, the 7-seat model features increased headroom by 15mm for third-row passengers, while the second-row seats can be adjustable.
As expected from a large family-friendly SUV, the 2024 Kodiaq is equipped with various conveniences, including: 4 USB-C ports with 45W power, an additional USB-C port with 15W power integrated into the rearview mirror, a 9-speaker audio system, and a cooling function wireless charging (15W) for two smartphones. The front seats feature massage function and the new air conditioning control system is easily accessible, although most physical buttons have been replaced.
The new Skoda Kodiaq is developed on an improved version of the MQB platform, retaining both petrol and diesel powertrains while adding mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid options.
Notably, the PHEV powertrain includes a 1.5 TSI Evo 2 engine with a single electric motor for a combined output of 201 horsepower. The 25.7 kWh battery pack provides the car with an electric range of over 100 km. The power is transmitted to the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic DSG gearbox. Users who want to choose AWD can switch to variants with conventional combustion engines.
Recently, the Skoda Kodiaq SUV was also introduced to the Vietnamese market with a starting price of 1.189 billion VND. It competes with D-segment SUVs such as the Hyundai SantaFe, Kia Sorento, Mazda CX-8, Ford Everest, and Toyota Fortuner.
The new Skoda Kodiaq was launched in the Vietnamese market in September 2023
