The family sedan has significantly lost its appeal in the market due to the influence of the SUV and pickup truck trend. However, there are still some sedan models that have good sales, such as the Toyota Camry. In the US, this is the 5th best-selling car in the entire market and the top-selling passenger car in 2022.
To maintain the appeal of the Camry, Toyota has officially unveiled the new generation of this model at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2023 currently taking place in the US. In the new generation, this sedan does not undergo a complete transformation but rather evolves in a different direction.
Exterior Design of Toyota Camry 2024
It’s not difficult to notice the influence of the new generation Prius and Crown in the exterior design of the Toyota Camry 2024. This can be seen especially in the front area of the car with a design inspired by a hammerhead shark. Applying the new design language of the Toyota brand, this sedan features a narrow upper grille, integrated with a radar housing for advanced ADAS driving assistance features. In addition, there are smaller headlights and a new “V” shaped LED daytime running light strip.
On the front bumper, Toyota has arranged a large-sized grille with a hexagonal honeycomb pattern for the sporty XSE version or horizontal slats for the regular version. The two corners of the car also have new vertical air vents.
Both the hood and side of the Toyota Camry 2024 feature prominent crease lines. In addition, there are wheel sets with diameters ranging from 16 to 19 inches, depending on the version.
The rear area of the Camry gives a familiar feeling as the car is still equipped with horizontal taillights, a integrated rear wing, and a “Camry” lettering below the Toyota logo. Of course, the design of these details has been improved to fit the new generation. The XSE version will also have additional air diffusers and dual exhaust outlets below the rear bumper.
Unfortunately, Toyota has not yet announced information about the dimensions of the new Camry. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if this car only sees a slight increase in size.
Interior Design of Toyota Camry 2024
Similar to the exterior, the interior of this D-segment sedan also receives a fresh update. The dashboard has been redesigned to appear smoother and more seamless. On the dashboard, there is a standard 8-inch or a 12.3-inch center touchscreen. This screen naturally supports Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.
In front of the driver is a three-spoke steering wheel, similar to the type used for the new generation Toyota Crown. Behind the steering wheel, Toyota has arranged a standard 7-inch or a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
The Toyota Camry 2024 is equipped with wireless phone charging, 3 front USB ports, 2 rear USB ports, JBL Premium Audio 9-speaker sound system, 10-inch head-up display, 2-zone automatic climate control with rear air vents, panoramic sunroof, push-button start, and smart key.
According to Toyota, the seats of the new Camry have been upgraded in terms of cushion and headrest to provide a more comfortable seating experience. The standard version will feature fabric upholstery, while the higher-end version will have leather and microfiber fabric upholstery. The seats have heating/cooling functions, soundproof glass, sporty aluminum pedal set, and leather-wrapped steering wheel as standard for the higher-end version.
Engine of Toyota Camry 2024
Contrary to the previous generation, the Toyota Camry 2024 does not have a regular gasoline engine. Instead, the car is only equipped with a hybrid powertrain. The standard engine for the car is a 2.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine combined with 2 electric motors. The FWD version of the car has a total output of 225 horsepower, while the AWD version has a corresponding output of 232 horsepower. This is the first time Toyota Camry combines a hybrid engine with AWD. The fuel consumption information of the Toyota Camry 2024 has not been revealed yet.
Safety Features of Toyota Camry 2024
It’s no surprise that the Toyota Camry 2024 receives an upgrade in terms of safety features. The “best-selling” car in the midsize sedan segment is equipped with features such as blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control at all speeds, lane departure warning with steering assist, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, and standard active driving assistance.
The higher-end version will have the Premium Plus Package, which includes low-speed adaptive cruise control, forward cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, 360-degree camera, and front/rear parking assist.
The price of the Toyota Camry 2024 has not been announced yet. The car will be available at US dealerships in the spring of next year.
