The third generation Volkswagen Tiguan has been officially launched in Europe. The car will arrive in the US market next year, using the long-wheelbase version.
The exterior design of the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan looks quite familiar, but there are some lines reminiscent of the ID.4 EV model, especially the closed upper grille. The car is developed on the MQB Evo platform with front-wheel drive as standard and all-wheel drive as an option.
At least in Europe, Volkswagen introduces several new drivetrain options. Meanwhile, the engine options for the US market have not been announced yet.
There are two plug-in hybrid drivetrain options with a total power output of 201 horsepower or 268 horsepower. These models use a 19.7 kWh battery pack that can provide an electric range of up to 100km.
In addition, the car also offers mild-hybrid engine options, including a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine combined with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery pack.
The third generation Tiguan is also offered with a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, producing a maximum power of 201 horsepower or 262 horsepower.
In addition, the turbodiesel engine option still exists. Specifically, the 2.0L engine produces a power output of 148 horsepower or 190 horsepower.
The technology upgrades include improved adaptive chassis control system, which operates with electronic differential lock. In addition, the car is still equipped with advanced technologies like its predecessor.
Inside the cabin, Volkswagen introduces a new layout for the digital instrument cluster and updated infotainment system. The company’s MIB graphic design follows what it has used in the ID.4, ID.5, and ID.7. Drivers can choose between different viewing modes: Classic, Progressive, Navigation, and R-Line.
The safety systems of the 2024 Tiguan include adaptive cruise control, hill start assist, parking distance control, lane keeping assist, lane change assist, etc.
There is currently no detailed technical information about the US version of the Tiguan.
