Kia recently announced the launch schedule for the upgraded version of its A-segment SUV, Sonet. The car will be officially unveiled on December 14, with the price set to be announced in early 2024.
Although detailed information about the car has not been disclosed, images of the vehicle have been circulating on various social media platforms for several months.
The exterior design of the Sonet 2024 remains largely unchanged from its predecessor. The car has only undergone minor design adjustments, such as a refreshed front bumper and headlamp cluster. The redesigned daytime running lights and fog lights also create a more impressive look.
At the rear, the taillight cluster has been redesigned to a vertical shape, accompanied by a horizontal strip of lights connecting both taillights. The rear bumper has also been revamped with a thicker silver-colored trim, similar to the front bumper.
The remaining new feature on the exterior of the car is the set of alloy wheels. The car will come with two types of new alloy wheels, featuring a 2-tone scraped design, depending on the variant.
As it is a facelift version, the interior space of the Kia Sonet 2024 will only have slight upgrades. The car will have a new interior color, accompanied by a digital instrument cluster and updated air conditioning control buttons.
In terms of safety equipment, the Kia Sonet 2024 is expected to be equipped with 6 airbags and advanced driving-assist features such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, forward collision avoidance assist, adaptive headlights, lane keeping assist, and driver attention warning.
As an intermediate update, the Kia Sonet 2024 is expected to retain its existing engine options. The car will offer 3 engine choices, depending on the market. The first is a 1.2L petrol engine with a maximum power of 83 horsepower and maximum torque of 115 Nm. The second is a turbocharged 1.0L petrol engine with 120 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque. Lastly, there is a 1.5L diesel engine with a maximum power of 116 horsepower and maximum torque of 250 Nm.
The 1.2L petrol engine will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The other two engines will be available with a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT), a 6-speed automatic transmission, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. According to various sources, Kia will introduce a diesel engine version with a manual transmission for this model in the Indian market.
After India, the new Kia Sonet will be launched in other markets, including Vietnam.
