After launching the new Sorento in August this year in Korea, Kia continues to introduce this mid-size SUV to the US market at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Compared to the old version, the 2024 Kia Sorento has the most noticeable changes in the front of the car. First is the vertical headlight cluster combined with the daytime running lights, which is redesigned to create an eye-catching T-shape.
The “tiger-nose” grille is also refined, bigger and seamless with the front lights. On the old version, Kia’s logo was integrated in the center of the grille, now this logo has been relocated to the bonnet. The front end has also been redesigned, smoother. The front bumper has been modified, with clearer and neater lines and added vertical air intakes. Overall, the front design of the 2024 Kia Sorento is quite similar to the Kia EV9.
On the side, the 2024 Kia Sorento doesn’t have many differences compared to the old version. Except for the new design alloy wheels. Moving to the rear, the updated version of the Kia Sorento stands out with the split rear lights connected with new lighting graphics, forming an inverted U-shape. The rear bumper and underbody cover have also been redesigned but look similar. In addition, the car is also offered in two new exterior colors, Dawning Red and Midnight Lake Blue.
The interior space of the 2024 Kia Sorento has also been refined in terms of design and added many new features. The highlight is the elongated curved screen on the dashboard, including a central touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster of the same size, 12.3 inches.
The 2024 Kia Sorento is also equipped with a digital key, allowing users to lock/unlock the doors with a smartphone and manage the car remotely. The safety features include front collision avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, highway driving assist and adaptive cruise control.
Especially, the 2024 Kia Sorento sold in the US is also supplemented with the X-Pro version. This version is designed for customers who prefer a sporty style with black glossy front/rear bumpers, roof rack and grille, 17-inch wheels and BF Goodrich off-road tires. The Sorento X-Pro interior is covered with olive green and light blue leather, open pore wood trim.
In terms of powertrain, the standard 2024 Kia Sorento comes with a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine, with a displacement of 2.5 liters, producing 191 horsepower and a torque of 245 Nm, combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The higher-end versions have a power output of 281 horsepower and a torque of 421 Nm thanks to a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine paired with an 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.
The 2024 Kia Sorento also offers hybrid and PHEV engine options, however, these versions will be available later. The manufacturer has not yet announced the price of this mid-size SUV.
