Toyota has officially launched the all-new Hilux Champ pickup truck. The Japanese automaker said that this is a product designed specifically for the Southeast Asian region, so it is likely that this pickup truck will also be available in the Vietnamese market in the near future.
To cater to the diverse needs of customers, the Toyota Hilux Champ 2024 comes in 2 body styles. The standard version measures 4,970 x 1,785 x 1,735 mm (length x width x height) and has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. The long wheelbase version measures 5,300 x 1,785 x 1,735 mm with a wheelbase of 3,085 mm, providing more spacious cargo space for transporting additional goods.
Compared to the concept version introduced a year ago, the commercial version of the Hilux Champ doesn’t have many differences. The car is equipped with standard halogen headlights and can be upgraded to optional LED headlights. The front grille features black plastic with the TOYOTA logo prominently displayed in the center.
The biggest highlight of the Toyota Hilux Champ is its easy customization capabilities. Toyota engineers have added additional bolt holes in various positions on the cargo bed, allowing owners to customize the pickup truck by attaching different aftermarket accessories. Toyota Thailand said the company has collaborated with over 100 manufacturers to produce custom accessories for the Hilux Champ.
All versions of the 2024 Toyota Hilux Champ in Thailand come with a single cabin design. The car is only equipped with analog gauges and does not have an infotainment system. In fact, this model only has a fan and is not equipped with an air conditioning system. Other notable features include two cup holders, power sockets, power windows, and a few storage compartments.
In terms of performance, the 2024 Toyota Hilux Champ offers 4 engine options, including 2 petrol engines and 2 diesel engines. The first is a 2.0L petrol engine with 139 horsepower and 183 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The 2.7L petrol engine delivers 166 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque, combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Both diesel versions have a displacement of 2.4L, turbocharged, and are available with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The power output of both engines is 150 horsepower, but the torque differs at 343 Nm and 400 Nm, respectively.
The Toyota Hilux Champ 2024 is priced from 459,000-577,000 Baht (equivalent to 317 – 398 million VND), significantly lower than its predecessor, the Hilux, which has a starting price of 375 million VND and goes up to 868 million VND for the highest-end version.
Currently, Toyota dealerships in Thailand have started accepting pre-orders for this versatile pickup truck, but the company has not revealed the delivery timeline. The car will be produced at the Samrong factory, where Toyota manufactures its commercial vehicle lineup.
