Toyota has officially launched an upgraded version of its small SUV Yaris Cross. In the new version, the car is equipped with a more powerful hybrid powertrain, as well as additional modern technologies inside the cabin and upgraded safety technology.

Starting with improvements in terms of operation, the 2024 Yaris Cross Hybrid 130 version is equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine combined with an electric motor, creating a total output of 130 horsepower and a maximum torque of 185 Nm. The new engine provides acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 10.7 seconds (0.4 seconds faster than the previous version).

The Hybrid 115 option has a power of 114 horsepower and a torque of 141 Nm. Toyota states that hybrid charging technology is the “number one decisive factor” for Yaris Cross buyers and that is why the company does not offer B-SUV versions with pure combustion engines in Europe.

Externally, the 2024 Yaris Cross still retains the appearance of its predecessor, but is supplemented with a new Juniper Blue exterior color option. The premium Premiere Edition version stands out with an exclusive Urban Khaki color, combined with sporty accents and new 18-inch alloy wheels. Both Premiere Edition and GR Sport versions are equipped with the Hybrid 130 engine, with the GR Sport version having a sportier chassis setup with the support of the Gazoo Racing division.

The interior of the 2024 Yaris Cross features a range of leading modern features and technologies in the segment. Depending on the version, the car is equipped with a 7-inch or 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, accompanied by a 9-inch or 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. In addition, the Japanese SUV model also offers the Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system, which supports over-the-air updates and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Like the Yaris hatchback, the upgraded version of the Yaris Cross is supplemented with a smart digital key with remote control capabilities.

Toyota engineers prioritize reducing noise and vibration to enhance overall comfort for passengers on the Yaris Cross. Specifically, they have added a vibration damping set on the left engine mount, a resonance enhancer on the intake tube, a triple-layer insulation behind the dashboard, and an additional velvet layer on the sound absorber on the hood. Furthermore, thicker windshield and side windows are used to reduce unwanted noise and vibration.

Last but not least, the Toyota T-Mate safety package is standard on the Yaris Cross and has been improved with new features. The hardware has been upgraded with new cameras and a longer and wider scanning radar. New additions to the ADAS system include Forward Collision Warning, Speed Reduction, Active Steering Support, Safe Exit Support, and Rear Seat Reminder, while the smooth and responsive adaptive cruise control system has also been improved.

Pre-orders for the 2024 Toyota Yaris Cross will start online later this month in Europe. Detailed pricing information will be revealed closer to the launch date.
