Honda announces racing plans for 2020

Honda recently announced its participation in the 2020 World Championship sports car races and the 2020 Dakar Rally road race.

Up until now, Honda has participated in many motorcycle racing categories in world championships managed by the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM) with race teams operated by Honda Racing Corporation (HRC).

2019 marks the 60th anniversary of Honda’s first participation in the Isle of Man TT race in 1959. In 2019, the Honda team won championships in prestigious categories of the FIM MotoGP World Championship, FIM Motocross World Championship, and FIM Trial World Championship.

Heading into 2020, Honda race teams will aim to defend their championships in MotoGP, Motocross, and Trials. Furthermore, HRC will continue to compete in the Dakar Rally, a race that will take place from South America to Saudi Arabia starting next year.

Starting from the 2020 season, Honda will also bring its HRC race team to the FIM Superbike World Championship, with two riders, Álvaro Bautista from Spain and Leon Haslam from England, riding on the new CBR1000RR-R FIREBLADE SP model. Rider Takumi Takahashi, the champion of the MFJ All Japan Road Race Championship 2017, will also participate in the FIM Superbike World Championship, racing for Honda’s satellite team, the MIE Racing Team.

Other Honda race teams, such as F.C.C. TSR Honda France, will continue their efforts to come out on top in the FIM Endurance World Championship, while Honda HRC (Honda USA factory team) will continue to compete for titles in the 450SX class of the AMA Supercross Championship.

Sport racing activities have become a driving force for Honda, with competition in various races, technology, and Honda personnel shining brighter than ever. The spirit of racing and the technology applied in the racing field have become part of many Honda products. Honda will continue to strive to bring the slogan “The Power of Dreams” to customers through products, services, and sport racing activities.
