McLaren plans to roll out an SUV in the upcoming years, can you believe it?

While both supercar manufacturers Lamborghini and Ferrari have already released their first SUV models, McLaren has recently revealed that the SUV segment is an important market for them as well. Whether or not they will create a high-riding supercar remains a secret, but Kolesa, an automotive news website, has provided a glimpse of what a McLaren SUV might look like.

The trend of car manufacturers in the coming years will see a strong development and the electrification of their vehicles with the form of PHEV, EV, or NEV. However, supercar brands believe that there is still one segment that will be their “golden egg-laying hen” and that is SUVs.

This has been clearly demonstrated by the two big players in the supercar manufacturing industry, Lamborghini and Ferrari, who have introduced their first high-performance SUVs to the market. In fact, “the raging bull” Urus has three different versions, the first generation, the high-performance variant, and finally the mid-life facelift.

Not wanting to be left behind, McLaren, another renowned supercar brand, also has plans to enter this segment. In August last year, the new CEO of the company admitted that the SUV segment is an important market that McLaren does not want to miss out on.

However, there have been no images, even in the form of drawings, of a McLaren SUV. To satisfy the expectations of McLaren enthusiasts, the automotive news website Kolesa has provided a visual representation of what a McLaren SUV could look like based on the brand’s existing supercars.

Looking at the exterior of this McLaren SUV, one can notice the LED headlights combined with vertical air intakes, giving the vehicle an assertive look. This detail is borrowed from the hybrid Artura. Additionally, the front bumper features deep air vents.

Behind the McLaren SUV, as depicted by Kolesa, are LED taillights borrowed from the McLaren GT supercar, featuring a sporty diffuser. Lastly, the SUV is equipped with dark-colored twin-spoke wheels.

Internal information from McLaren suggests that the company’s leadership is considering the production of their first SUV. However, even if approved, no McLaren SUV will be introduced until 2025. Furthermore, being the latecomer, McLaren has learned valuable lessons and may launch an SUV with a hybrid powertrain, making it more unique compared to its two competitors.
