The F1 racetrack in Vietnam is called Hanoi Racetrack, which reflects the pride of the capital city when hosting one of the most prestigious sports events on the planet, building a world-class sports and entertainment racing facility. This is also an effort to promote Hanoi to millions of Formula 1 fans around the world. From now on, Hanoi will be marked on the Formula 1 map of the world and mentioned as an unmissable destination for Formula 1 fans and international tourists in general.
The Hanoi Racetrack, located in My Dinh, has a length of 5.607 meters with 23 corners inspired by the iconic Formula 1 races. It is a unique track design, combining a dedicated racing section with existing street sections. This is also the first track designed by F1 in collaboration with Tilke (Germany), promising to become one of the most emotional and challenging tracks of this sport. With high-speed corners unprecedented in other street circuits and with up to 3 overtaking points, the drivers will definitely have many opportunities to compete closely. This will be a test of skills and mental strength for the drivers, and it will also bring to speed enthusiasts a passionate weekend with thrilling speed performances.
The Hanoi Racetrack is designed with 9 grandstands named in order from North to South, from the first corners to the final corners, with the names: Thang Long Grandstand, Hai Phong Grandstand, Ha Long Grandstand, Hue Matrix One Grandstand, Da Nang Grandstand, Nha Trang Grandstand, Saigon Grandstand, Can Tho Grandstand, Phu Quoc Grandstand. The names are also chosen based on the characteristics of the corners where the grandstands are located.
With the naming of the racetrack and grandstands after the names of important provinces and cities in the country, VGPC affirms the Vietnamese imprint of the race, thereby promoting Vietnam to millions of viewers worldwide.
Taking place from April 3rd to April 5th, 2020, the first-ever Formula 1 race in Vietnam will witness top performances from the world’s leading racers. This is the third race in the 22nd FIA Formula One World Championship, following races in Melbourne (Australia) and Bahrain, and is among the first races in the Asian region.
The grandstands are named as follows: – Thang Long Grandstand: located at the starting line, named after the old name of Hanoi, symbolizing the rise and continuous development. – Hai Phong Grandstand: located at the first corner, named after the important port city, a major industrial center, and the largest seaport in Northern Vietnam. It is also the third largest city in Vietnam, the second largest in the North, and one of the five Central cities. – Ha Long Grandstand: located at the bend of curves 2-3-4, named after Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO-recognized World Natural Heritage – one of the top attractions in Vietnam. – Hue Matrix One Grandstand: located at curves 7-8 and named after the ancient capital of Hue, a UNESCO heritage site in Vietnam. The Hue Matrix One Grandstand is accompanied by MIK Group with The Matrix One real estate project, which offers an ideal view overlooking the Hanoi Racetrack. – Da Nang Grandstand: located at the 10th corner and named after the fourth largest city in Vietnam – a key economic center in the Central region – famous for its white sandy beaches, Ba Na Hills, Son Tra Peninsula, Marble Mountains… It is also one of the five Central cities. – Nha Trang Grandstand: located just before the 11th corner, named after the famous coastal city with beautiful beaches, diving spots, and famous islands in Nha Trang Bay. This place is also known as the “Pearl of the East Sea” with many famous tourist destinations attracting international visitors such as Vinpearl Nha Trang… – Saigon Grandstand: located at the 12th corner. This grandstand is named after the largest city in Vietnam and one of the most important economic, cultural, political, and educational centers in Vietnam. Saigon is famous for places such as Ben Thanh Market, Nguyen Hue Walking Street, Independence Palace, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and most recently, the tallest building in Southeast Asia, Landmark 81. – Can Tho Grandstand: located at the 13th corner, named after the modern and most developed city in the Mekong Delta, famous for its floating markets and fruitful orchards. – Phu Quoc Grandstand: located at corners 22-23, named after the largest island in Vietnam, also known as the Pearl Island, owning beautiful beaches and famous landscapes such as Phu Quoc National Park, An Thoi Archipelago, Bai Truong, Vung Tau Fishing Village, Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc (the first and largest wildlife safari in Vietnam). |
