Recently, Volvo has officially introduced its first MPV model named EM90. This is a product developed by the Swedish car company and its parent company Geely (China), with many similarities to Zeekr 009.
Volvo EM90 is larger than Lexus LM, with an overall length of up to 5,209 mm, width of 2,024 mm, and height of 1,867 mm. The wheelbase of the car is 3,205 mm and the weight is up to 2,763 kg.
In terms of design, Volvo EM90 still retains the DNA details of the Swedish brand such as the T-shaped taillights or the LED daytime running lights “Thor’s Hammer”. The front grille area of the EM90 is equipped with a matrix-shaped positioning light system, combined with a glowing Volvo logo. The wheel rim has an aerodynamic design, with optional sizes of 19 or 20 inches.
EM90 has a 3-row interior space, with a 2-2-2 seating configuration. The second row of seats integrates multiple features such as electric adjustment, reclining, heating and cooling seats. Volvo also provides a folding table, footrest and a 15.6-inch entertainment screen hanging on the ceiling to serve passengers in this position. Volvo said the rear seats can be turned into a “movie theater, meeting room, or bedroom” with just a touch of a switch or voice to change window settings, seats, screens, lighting, and air conditioning.
The dashboard is designed in a minimalist style, with a 15.4-inch screen integrated with all the functions on the car. The car is also equipped with a Bowers & Wilkins audio system with a capacity of 2,460W with 21 speakers, promising to bring an experience that Volvo describes as a “mobile concert hall”.
Volvo EM90 is only equipped with an electric motor with a capacity of 268 horsepower on the rear axle, allowing acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. Accompanying the engine is a 116 kWh CATL battery for a range of up to 738 km, according to the China Light-duty Test Cycle (CLTC). EM90 supports fast DC charging with the ability to increase capacity to 80% from 10% in just 30 minutes. In addition, the car also has two-way charging function to provide power to other devices in some necessary cases.
Volvo has now started accepting pre-orders for EM90 in the Chinese market with a starting price of up to 818,000 Chinese yuan (about 2.75 billion VND). The Swedish car company is considering plans to distribute this MPV model in other markets, but has not revealed specific information.
