The B-segment sedan is experiencing a similar decrease in sales as the overall car market in Vietnam, and car manufacturers and dealerships are deploying incentives to attract domestic customers.
Honda City awaits facelift promotion
In April, Honda City was one of the 2 rare models in the B-segment sedan segment with positive sales growth. This achievement was made possible by the continuous implementation of the special promotion program for this sedan model by Honda since the end of 2022, with the maximum registration fee discount of 100%.
In May, dealerships announced that they would continue to implement the maximum discount of 100% registration fee for customers purchasing Honda City. In addition, a genuine accessory package worth 50 million VND is also offered to customers who purchase this B-segment sedan in May.
“
Honda City is still being offered with 100% registration fee discount, including 1-year vehicle insurance or genuine accessory packages. However, there are very few City cars left in stock,” the sales staff said.

As of now, Honda City is temporarily the second best-selling budget sedan in Vietnam. In the first 4 months of the year, Honda City achieved sales of 3,588 units, equivalent to an average of 897 units per month.
According to the information on the Vehicle Registration Department’s website, the Honda City 2023 versions L and RS will be upgraded with disc brakes instead of the current drum brakes. Additionally, sales consultants revealed that the Honda City 2023 will be equipped with the Honda Sensing safety package.
According to sales consultants, it is highly likely that the Honda City 2023 will be launched in the Vietnamese market around July.
Currently, the Honda City is assembled in Vietnam with a total of 3 versions, with the listed price ranging from 529 million to 599 million VND.
Hyundai Accent supports registration fee to maintain its lead
After a competitive battle with the Toyota Vios throughout 2022, the Hyundai Accent has temporarily pulled ahead and is leading in sales in the budget sedan segment.
After 4 months, the Hyundai Accent achieved sales of 4,993 units, surpassing the next competitor Honda City by more than 1,400 units.

In May, the Hyundai Accent, along with other Hyundai models, is offering a 50% registration fee support program and many valuable gifts such as 1-year vehicle insurance or dash cams.
Thus, despite being listed at around 426-542 million VND for 4 versions, the actual selling price of the Hyundai Accent is now reduced by up to 40 million VND after incentives and additional gifts are included.
In discussions, sales consultants revealed that there is currently a large inventory of Hyundai Accent available at dealerships, with a full range of exterior colors and versions.
Other budget sedans with attractive offers
Similar to the Hyundai Accent, the remaining models in the budget B-segment sedan, such as the Mitsubishi Attrage and Kia Soluto, are also being offered incentives in May.
Among them, the Kia Soluto and Mitsubishi Attrage are enjoying a 50% registration fee discount program. With a listed price ranging from 409-489 million VND for the Kia Soluto and 380-490 million VND for the Mitsubishi Attrage, the maximum discount for customers purchasing these 2 models in May is nearly 30 million VND.
Meanwhile, the Mazda2 sedan variants produced in 2023 are also eligible for a discount of 45-54 million VND. The highest discount, up to 57 million VND, is offered for the Sport version.

Some dealerships still have inventory of Mazda2 sedans produced in 2022, with a cash discount of up to 65 million VND, bringing the actual price of the standard sedan version down to 414 million VND.
As for the Suzuki Ciaz, although it is still the slowest-selling car in the Vietnamese car market, the Thai-imported sedan is also offering a promotion of 1-year vehicle insurance. However, this promotion is only applicable to Ciaz cars with 2022 VIN numbers.
The newly launched Toyota Vios 2023 also has promotional offers
After much anticipation, Vietnamese customers have finally been introduced to the Toyota Vios 2023 with some exterior and equipment upgrades.
In discussions, sales staff at a Toyota dealership in Ho Chi Minh City said that this model is being offered with a cash discount of 15-20 million VND.
“This is a cash discount for customers purchasing the Toyota Vios 2023 in May. However, if customers prefer to receive gifts or accessories, the dealership is ready to assist,” the sales staff said.

After the first 4 months of the year, the Toyota Vios achieved sales of only 2,890 units. Therefore, this budget sedan, which used to be the best-selling car in the Vietnamese car market, is currently ranked third in the B-segment sedan category, behind the Honda City and Hyundai Accent.
On average, Vietnamese customers are currently purchasing approximately 722 Vios cars per month, which is just over one-third of the average sales figure the Toyota Vios achieved in 2022.
In the new version that was just launched in the Vietnamese market, the listed price of the Toyota Vios has been slightly adjusted for the E versions. Specifically, the Toyota Vios is now listed in the range of 479-592 million VND.
