The modified car can accommodate up to 10 people at a time instead of just 5 like before.
Recently, a Chinese TikToker shared images of his modified Volkswagen Lamando that has been widened twice as much, leaving many people in awe. The car is appropriately named 5XL, reflecting its shape.
Looking like a product of Photoshop, the 5XL car has been widened from 1,826 mm to 3,000 mm. In the front row, the passenger seat has been replaced with a bench seat for 2 people. The rear row can now accommodate up to 5 seats. According to the TikToker, 10 people can sit in the car at the same time.
The increased width has changed the size of the cabin. However, the engine cannot increase in size, so the entire area on the right side under the hood is left empty. This widening and structural change has resulted in the car’s drivetrain having only one wheel, the front left wheel next to the engine.
The original Volkswagen Lamando
The Volkswagen Lamando L is known for being a wide-bodied car. This is the extended version of the Lamando – a model that is essentially the Chinese configuration of the Jetta developed and sold by SAIC – Volkswagen joint venture since 2014. In its default state, the Lamando L has a cabin with 5 seats and has dimensions of 4,784 mm in length, 1,831 mm in width, and 1,469 mm in height.
The Volkswagen Lamando L is equipped with a TSI 1.4L engine with a power output of 150 horsepower and a torque of 250 Nm transmitted to the front axle through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
