The sport car and vintage car hobby of Vietnamese billionaires is thriving. For the Porsche brand, 2 famous cars in recent times in Vietnam are the Porsche 930 and Porsche 911 Carrera 4, both of which are decades old. These two cars are still seen on the streets of Hanoi.
In the coming time, 2 more vintage Porsche cars will be imported from the US to Vietnam, but what makes them special is that they are both heavily modified. According to the car dealer, this couple will come to Vietnam after about 1 month, at the Lunar New Year. The cars are priced at billions of VND. These cars are truly only for the wealthy and those who are passionate about automobiles.
The second Porsche 930 heading to Vietnam is completely different from the previous silver one. This car is from 1987, it has been revamped with a new exterior design, large spoiler and big rims. Particularly, the engine has been tuned to 500 horsepower. The original engine is the most powerful of this car series with a horsepower of more than 300. The car was modified by a company called Ruf, which is famous for its powerful engines in vintage Porsches.
At the time of its launch, the Porsche 930 was the fastest commercially available car in Germany. This car was banned from sale in Japan and the US in 1980 due to changes in emission standards. However, the legendary sports car was still sold in Europe, with the engine upgraded to 325 horsepower and 432 Nm of torque, and later became a made-to-order model only.
The next car in the pair of vintage Porsches about to be imported to Vietnam is the Porsche 993, from 1984. The exterior color is silver, while the interior color is eye-catching red. This car is even more interesting as it is a convertible version, with the engine tuned to 760 horsepower. The original engine of this car series, a twin-turbo 3.8-liter engine by Porsche, only had a peak horsepower of nearly 600.
The Porsche 993 series was also famous at that time, replacing the 964 series with a series of changes, from the lightweight chassis, to the suspension system and the engine. According to Porsche, only about 20% of the components of the 964 series were kept for the 993 series, the rest were replaced with new ones. This series had various versions, from hardtop to convertible. The car that was brought to Vietnam is a convertible version with an electric soft top.
