The award judge, Mr. Dan Vardie, Founder and current Chairman of AUTOBEST, highly praised Vingroup’s vision and strategy in investing billions of dollars to develop VinFast as a large-scale green industrial project with international reach, leading the trend of electrification in transportation and promoting green lifestyles worldwide.
Experts attending the conference acknowledged that within just 5 years since entering the automobile manufacturing industry, VinFast has achieved “unprecedented” achievements in the Vietnamese industry. It has a full range of electric vehicle products, from electric bicycles, electric motorcycles, electric cars, to electric buses, along with attractive sales policies, after-sales services, and a nationwide network of charging stations, making it easy, convenient, smart, and cost-effective for customers to experience green transportation. VinFast products are not only present domestically but also exported to many international markets, including major markets such as the US and the EU. VinFast is also currently the only Vietnamese business listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange in the US.
As of November 2023, VinFast has introduced 15 models of electric motorcycles ranging from basic to premium, 7 models of electric cars covering all segments, and the VinBus electric bus system serving millions of daily commutes in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. VinFast’s dealership, showroom, and service center network have the widest coverage among car manufacturers in Vietnam, combined with the largest public charging station network in the country with over 150,000 charging ports in all 63 provinces and cities. The location of charging stations is carefully calculated to ensure coverage and convenience for VinFast vehicle owners.
VinFast electric vehicles have also become an important choice in the strong development trend of taxi companies like GSM and many other partners. The outstanding advantages of VinFast electric vehicles in terms of intelligent features, cost-effective operation, and sustainable environmental protection have contributed to GSM achieving a record 6 million passengers in just over 5 months since its launch.
VinFast leads the green and sustainable mobility revolution
Under the Paris Agreement on climate change, Vietnam has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 9% by 2030 compared to business-as-usual scenarios using domestic resources and can increase the target to 27% with international support. Vietnam also plans to achieve net-zero emissions in the transportation sector by 2050.
Therefore, experts believe that Vietnam is considered a promising market for electric cars due to the advantages of cost-saving in fuel consumption in the context of rising oil prices and concerns about the environment related to gasoline-powered vehicles. In addition, the Government has provided incentives for the use of electric vehicles, from reducing import taxes on electric vehicles to reducing vehicle registration fees for owners. However, sustainable development requires strong and visionary enterprises with large investments to take the lead.
Mr. Morgan Donovan Carroll, ESG Director of VinFast, stated that VinFast is committed to sustainable development and building a green future through a focus on electric vehicle production, battery technology, renewable energy integration, charging infrastructure development, recycling, circular economy, and international partnerships.
