Due to the overall sluggishness of the Vietnamese car market, a wide range of urban MPV models are being offered significant discounts by many dealerships to stimulate buying demand. Among them, the Toyota Veloz Cross and the Hyundai Stargazer are both being discounted by up to 50-100 million VND.
Mitsubishi Xpander reduced by 40 million VND
The leading urban MPV model is currently being discounted by many dealerships to reduce inventory of 2022 production cars. Specifically, when discussing with a Mitsubishi dealer in Hanoi, a salesperson revealed that the Xpander AT Premium with a 2022 VIN is being discounted by 30 million VND, bringing the price of this version down to 618 million VND.
Meanwhile, the AT version is also priced at 568 million VND, reduced by 30 million VND compared to the listed price. However, the salesperson also mentioned that an additional discount of 5-10 million VND is available if customers complete the payment process before May 28th to boost sales.
Another Mitsubishi dealer in Ho Chi Minh City mentioned that 2022 VIN Xpanders are being discounted by 40 million VND, bringing the price of the car to 550-630 million VND. For the 2023 production cars, customers who purchase in May will receive a discount of 10-20 million VND.

In addition, this dealership is also offering a package of accessories including a camera and floor mats worth 30 million VND for customers purchasing 2023 VIN Xpanders.
In April, the “MPV king” also experienced a decrease in sales with only 1,084 units sold, a decrease of over 52%. However, this number is still enough for the Xpander to remain the best-selling MPV on the market.
Mitsubishi Xpander is currently available in Vietnam with 4 versions: MT, AT, AT Premium, and Cross. Prices range from 555 million VND to 698 million VND.
Toyota Veloz Cross, Toyota Avanza heavily discounted
Recently, Toyota Vietnam has implemented a discount program of up to 32 million VND for both of its MPV models, including Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio. Specifically, customers who place an order and complete the payment process from May 16th to June 30th will receive a package of accessories worth 15 million VND and one year of body insurance from Toyota Vietnam.
This program is only applicable to the Top, CVT version of Veloz Cross and the CVT version of Avanza Premio.
However, some dealerships are willing to offer additional discounts of tens of millions of VND for both models in order to increase competitiveness against the Xpander and the upcoming Honda BR-V. When reaching out to a Toyota dealership in Dong Nai, a salesperson revealed that 2022 VIN Veloz Cross is currently being discounted by 43-65 million VND depending on the version.

Therefore, after applying the discount, the price of this model will range from 615 to 633 million VND, which is lower than the price of the premium version of Xpander.
For 2023 production cars, customers who place an order in May will receive a discount of 30 million VND and a package of genuine accessories including leather mats or sun shades.
Toyota Avanza is also being separately discounted by up to 30 million VND depending on the version. Specifically, the MT version of Avanza Premio with a 2023 VIN is being discounted by 10 million VND, and the CVT version is being discounted by 20 million VND. Therefore, after applying the discount, the price of Avanza Premio will range from 548 to 578 million VND.
Hyundai Stargazer, Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid waiving registration fee
In May, the Hyundai MPV model continues to receive a 100% waiver of the registration fee to stimulate purchasing. Speaking with Tri Thuc Online, a sales consultant at a Hyundai dealership in the southern region revealed that Hyundai Stargazer is currently being offered a support program that waives 100% of the registration fee, worth nearly 90 million VND.
“This program is only applicable to Stargazers produced in 2022 with very limited quantities,” the salesperson disclosed.
With listed prices ranging from 575 to 685 million VND, the support program for Hyundai Stargazer in this month is equivalent to a maximum value of 82 million VND depending on the version and registered location.

Several Hyundai dealerships are also offering additional discounts of 10-20 million VND to attract customers, bringing the price of this MPV model to below 500 million VND, equivalent to the price of B-segment sedans. In addition, customers purchasing Stargazer in May will also receive complimentary body insurance and a package of accessories worth 10 million VND.
The only hybrid MPV in the market is also being supported with a 50% waiver of the registration fee in May to continue competing with rivals in the same segment. Specifically, customers purchasing the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid in May will receive a 50% waiver of the registration fee along with a one-year insurance package with a maximum value of 40 million VND.
In reality, this discount program has been implemented by Suzuki since the beginning of the year but has not achieved the expected results. In April, the sales of this MPV model only reached 33 units, placing last in terms of sales in the segment.
Currently, the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid is distributed in the Vietnamese market with 2 versions, with prices ranging from 538 to 608 million VND depending on the version.
