The all-new Honda Accord made its debut in the Southeast Asian market at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023. After 4 months of being launched in Indonesia, this D-segment sedan has finally been priced.
In the Indonesian market, the Honda Accord 2024 is available in only one variant, which is the RS, and it has a starting price of 959.9 million Rupiah (about 1.51 billion Vietnamese Dong). Compared to the prices in Thailand, which range from 1.529 – 1.799 billion Baht (about 1.05 – 1.23 billion Vietnamese Dong), the new generation Honda Accord for Indonesia is significantly more expensive.
One of the reasons why the Honda Accord 2024 is priced quite high is because it is equipped with a new hybrid powertrain called e:HEV. Specifically, the car uses a 2.0L, 4-cylinder Atkinson Cycle gasoline engine that produces a maximum power of 146 horsepower and a peak torque of 182 Nm.
The gasoline engine in the new Honda Accord serves as the main generator, while the e-CVT transmission integrates an electric motor to charge the lithium-ion battery pack. This battery pack supplies power to the second electric motor, which produces 181 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque. The gasoline engine can also directly drive the wheels at higher speeds through a lock-up clutch. In total, the Honda Accord e:HEV 2023 has a combined power output of 204 horsepower.
In addition to the fuel-saving engine, this D-segment sedan also adopts a new design language. With the concept of “Luxurious Feeling Sleek and Sporty Design”, the Honda Accord 2024 has a smoother appearance compared to its predecessor.
Moreover, this is also the first time that the Accord will have an RS sporty variant. The distinguishing feature of this variant is the red “RS” logo on the front grille and rear trunk lid.
The Honda Accord 2024 offered in the Indonesian market is the high-end variant, so it comes with full equipment such as LED headlights, sequential LED turn signals, and 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels. Inside the D-segment sedan, there is a spacious interior with leather seats and red accents to match the RS variant.
Stepping inside the Honda Accord 2024, Indonesian customers will find features such as a 10.2-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, an 11.5-inch heads-up display, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This infotainment system not only supports smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, but also integrates Google apps like Google Play, Google Maps, and Google Assistant. The driver can use Google Assistant to control the audio system, air conditioning, navigation, and more.
Furthermore, there are features like the Bose 12-speaker audio system, panoramic sunroof, digital key technology for unlocking/locking doors with a smartphone, interior ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, and memory seats.
In terms of safety, the Honda Accord 2024 in the Indonesian market is equipped with features such as a 360-degree camera, 8 airbags, and Honda LaneWatch lane watch camera. Of course, the Honda Sensing active safety technology package with adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning is also included in this model.
Currently, there is no information about the release of the new Honda Accord in Vietnam. If it comes to Vietnam with prices similar to other Southeast Asian markets, this D-segment sedan will have a tough competition with rivals in the same segment like the Toyota Camry and Kia K5.
