The Hummer H1, H2, and H3 are all rugged and impressive SUVs, but for those seeking an equally impressive, durable, and reliable off-road SUV, the Toyota Mega Cruiser is an option that cannot be overlooked.

The Mega Cruiser was produced by Toyota from 1995 to 2001, originally designed for the Japanese military, it was later used as a police and firefighting vehicle. This SUV model has a limited production of 3,000 units, of which nearly 150 are civilian vehicles. Recently, a Mega Cruiser was auctioned off through the online used car trading platform Cars & Bids.

The auctioned vehicle has right-hand drive and was imported from Japan in May 2022. The off-road SUV has traveled 168,700 km, but thanks to regular maintenance over the years, it’s almost free of serious damage.

In terms of power, the Toyota Mega Cruiser uses a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a displacement of 4.1 liters, producing 155 horsepower and a maximum torque of 382 Nm. This engine is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system. The off-road capability of this SUV is supported by a special wheelbase design and a differential lock system.

A left-hand drive Toyota Mega Cruiser with an odometer of about 90,900 km was sold for $310,000 (about 7.53 billion VND) in October 2022. If we take that as a reference, the car being auctioned on Cars & Bids will have a price of about $100,000 to $200,000 (about 2.44 – 4.89 billion VND), as the car has a higher mileage and right-hand drive. This figure is equivalent to the list price of a Mercedes-Benz S-Class and is also comparable to the amount required to own a Hummer H1.
