Equipped with a “giant” battery pack, the Kia EV5 can travel up to 700km on a single charge, meeting the daily transportation needs of users.
After launching the EV5 in August this year, Kia has officially announced the sale of this electric SUV at the 2023 Guangzhou Auto Show. The car is available in 3 versions, with prices ranging from 149,800 – 174,800 Chinese yuan, equivalent to 490 – 567 million VND.
The Kia EV5 is developed based on the E-GMP platform of the parent company Hyundai. The car has dimensions similar to the Sportage, with length x width x height of 4,615 x 1,875 x 1,715 mm and a wheelbase of 2,750 mm.
In terms of exterior, the EV5 applies the Opposites United design philosophy with sharp, rugged lines. The solid grille has a design that Kia calls “Digital Tiger Face”. The triangle-shaped headlights consist of small LED bulbs, combined with a daytime running light strip running across the front of the car. Below is a wide trapezoidal center air vent with a thick border and a silver trim, creating a strong and rugged appearance for the SUV.
At the rear, the 2024 EV5 features vertical LED taillights and 2 thin LED strips running horizontally on the tailgate, inspired by star maps.
The interior space of the Kia EV5 is quite similar to its “big brother” EV9, most clearly shown through the 12.3-inch dual touchscreen on the dashboard and the small 5-inch touch screen for adjusting the air conditioning below. The 4-spoke steering wheel integrates most of the basic control buttons, but Kia chooses mechanical buttons for the air conditioning. Below are two USB-C ports, a wireless charger, cup holders, and storage compartments. The rear seats can be folded flat, while the rear luggage compartment is divided into convenient compartments, plus an underfloor storage compartment.
The standard version of the Kia EV5 is equipped with a 215-horsepower electric motor combined with a 64 kWh battery pack, allowing for a range of about 530 km on a full charge. The all-wheel drive version has a power of 308 horsepower and is equipped with an 88 kWh battery. The powerful long-range version has a power of 215 horsepower and is equipped with an 88 kWh battery, allowing for a range of up to 700 km. The Korean SUV is also equipped with a fast charging system, which can increase the battery capacity from 30 to 80% in less than 30 minutes.
