When it comes to GAZ 69 or UAZ 69, many people in Vietnam will think of the military vehicles that were once considered legends on the Truong Son road during the war. This is a model produced by GAZ from 1953-1955. Meanwhile, from 1954-1972, the production of this model took place at the UAZ factory. This is why the “military legend” once had two names: GAZ 69 and UAZ 69.
The former military legend GAZ 69 undergoes a complete transformation under the hands of the Truck Garage modification company.
Recently, a Russian modification company called Truck Garage surprised everyone by completely “plastic surgery” an old GAZ 69. The name Truck Garage is certainly still unfamiliar to car enthusiasts. However, thanks to the GAZ 69 transformation project, Truck Garage is likely to be better known.
Based in St. Petersburg, Truck Garage plans to turn 12 GAZ 69 nicknamed “mountain goats” into beasts with powerful V8 engines and completely different designs. However, currently Truck Garage has only completed the modification process of one GAZ 69.

The “heart” of the modified GAZ 69 is a Hemi V8 engine with a capacity of 6.4 liters, producing a maximum power of 465 horsepower. The power is transmitted to all 4 wheels through an automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the original GAZ 69 was only equipped with a 2.1 liter engine, producing a maximum power of 55 horsepower and using a 4-speed manual gearbox.
Other technical improvements of the modified GAZ 69 include custom coil springs, rear ARB differential, Teraflex disc brakes on all 4 wheels, 17-inch alloy wheels and 35-inch off-road tires.
Inside the Truck Garage-modified GAZ 69 is a classic-themed interior space with some impressive equipment. These include leather power seats, vintage-style audio system, Bluetooth and iPhone connectivity interface.
Truck Garage plans to equip the remaining modified GAZ 69 vehicles with 5.7-liter and 6.1-liter engines. Some of them will have soft convertible tops. The rest will have classic hard tops. The cars will have a variety of exterior colors for customers to choose from. The starting price of the comprehensive modified GAZ 69 vehicles is around $57,770, equivalent to 1.28 billion VND.
