Toyota has only confirmed the dimensions of the car which are length x width x height at 4,300 mm x 1,820 mm and 1,620 mm respectively. The company has stated that it will reveal the full specifications in the first half of 2024, when the commercial version is ready, currently the car does not have an official name. Being the same size as the Yaris Cross, at launch, this car will help Toyota expand its range of electric vehicles by 2026.

Andrea Carlucci, Product Development Director of Toyota, stated that this bold style B-segment SUV concept “is a strong sign of a strong contribution” to Toyota’s electric vehicle sales in Europe in the coming years.

The car will bear similarities to the recently unveiled Suzuki concept eVX, as Toyota and Suzuki have a strategic partnership and cooperation on certain models, but Toyota’s owners would not pay attention to the level of relationship between the two cars.Toyota unveils new urban electric crossover concept toyota-urban-suv-concept-2023-03_1.jpg

Notably, Suzuki has sold its own versions of Toyota’s RAV4 and Corolla as part of the cooperation relationship with the two companies collaborating on electric vehicle development. The Urban Crossover can be understood as based on a dedicated platform related to the e-TNGA platform, forming the basis for the bZ4X SUV.

This model will serve as an electric replacement for the current Yaris Cross hybrid model – and in this capacity will be the smallest electric car in Toyota’s product line, “at least for a while.” However, there will not be a price appropriate for that car, as Carlucci hinted at a “high price” associated with electric cars, making a price of about £25,000 (about 750 million dong) infeasible in the medium term, because there needs to be a “significant change” in the cost of battery materials to reduce costs for customers.
