Ford Everest is the flagship 7-seater SUV of the American carmaker in Vietnam. The new version features a fresh and distinctive exterior design compared to previous generations of Everest, while the manufacturer has also upgraded a series of new technologies, enhancing the user experience far beyond competitors in the segment like Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport or Isuzu Dmax.
We had the opportunity to chat with Mr. Duc (Hanoi) about the new generation Ford Everest that he recently purchased.
Hello, Mr. Duc! Did you buy the Ford Everest when you had a long driving experience?
This is my 3rd car, previously I bought a Mitsubishi Xpander in 2020, then I bought a Morning for my wife. This Everest has been running for over 15,000 km, I bought the Titanium 4×2 version. I have never driven previous generations of Ford Everest before, so this is my first car.
What reason made you choose to buy the Ford Everest, when the two previous cars were urban cars, and the Everest is a wild SUV?
Before buying the Ford Everest, I chose Xpander for the whole family because first it was affordable, and secondly, it looked neat outside and had 7 comfortable seats inside.
In Xpander, the passengers in the third row can stretch their legs more easily than Everest, the third row seats in Everest are quite tight.
But Xpander does not have the rugged look of Ford Everest, nor the superior performance of Everest. In addition, the features and technologies on Ford Everest are really modern, different from other competitors. Xpander clearly cannot be compared with Everest in everything.
Finally, I am currently the director of an information technology company, so when I meet clients, I think Everest will be more necessary than Xpander. Xpander is more suitable for family use and is often associated with a service car image, not very suitable when meeting partners.
What are the advantages of Ford Everest 2023, according to you?
In addition to its modern look, this car can travel 400-500 km without feeling tired, and it is very comfortable on the highway because the car has an Adaptive Cruise control system. It automatically maintains and keeps the lane, so the driver does not have to operate much.
The safety features are also great. In fact, I have encountered a situation where another car suddenly cut across, and this Everest automatically braked for me. I am really impressed with this feature. However, sometimes the safety system is too sensitive, causing the car to stop suddenly when it perceives danger ahead, and a car behind me hit me. And I have to compliment the sturdy structure of Everest, as it was hit hard by a motorbike from behind but the car was fine.
Have you encountered any malfunctions or problems with the Ford Everest during your usage?
Before buying, I also searched for information on the internet, from people who have used previous generations of Everest and this new version. Previously, some customers reported problems with the 10-speed transmission of Everest, so I was also concerned.
As of now, I have owned the car for 8 months, but during the usage process, I have not noticed any abnormalities with the car at all. My car has a 6-speed transmission, and the 2.0-liter engine is running stably. Because it has a 6-speed transmission, I feel more confident.
The Titanium 4×2 version with a 10-speed transmission is about 150 million more expensive than my car, so choosing this version for my needs of city driving and highway travel is reasonable.
You mainly drive in the city and need a vehicle with a nice appearance to present yourself, so why didn’t you choose the Ford Territory?
That car is also good, but I find it quite intrusive because it is of Chinese origin and does not have 7 seats.
Occasionally, I often go on long trips and carry up to 7 people, so cars like the previous Xpander and the current Ford Everest fulfill my needs well. Ford Territory cannot accommodate many people.
So, to sum up, why did you choose the Ford Everest?
I chose it for aesthetics, technology features, and usage requirements. In addition, I hope the manufacturer will design the entertainment screen tilted towards the driver, making it easier to operate. I hope Ford will improve in future versions.
In the current market, there are many models with good aesthetics, many technological features, and spacious 7 seats like Hyundai SantaFe, Mazda CX8. Why didn’t you choose SantaFe?
Hyundai SantaFe and Mazda CX8 have integrated frames. SantaFe has many features, technologies, and conveniences. I have a friend who is driving a SantaFe, and after 5 years, the paint has deteriorated a lot. In addition, the interior of the car has also deteriorated a lot, so I don’t like Korean cars.
Mazda CX8 has a starting trend design, but I still prefer the ruggedness of the Ford Everest.
Electric cars are now flourishing, and there are also spacious 7-seater electric cars. Do you have any plans to switch to electric cars?
Currently, I am satisfied with my choice. I still have a lot of doubts about electric cars. In the future, I guess I will wait until electric cars are stable and market-proven in terms of efficiency and safety.
