First appeared in Vietnam in 2016 at the Vietnam Auto Motorcycle Exhibition, Honda Winner 150 was born to directly compete with Yamaha Exciter – the model that was considered the king in the Underbone sport bike segment in Vietnam for a long time. However, after 3 years on the market, Honda Winner seems to still struggle to surpass its rival.

However, Winner 150 still manages to assert its position and attraction in the sport bike segment with its love and enthusiasm from Honda Winner clubs across provinces and impressive activities. By mid-2019, Honda Winner was first upgraded with a new version called Honda Winner X with completely changed appearance compared to the old Winner 150, alongside valuable additions in terms of equipment that helps the bike compete better in the market.
However, after a short time on the market, Honda Winner X has received some initial feedback from users. Below, we list down 4 issues with Honda Winner X that make users uncomfortable.
Hard saddle on Honda Winner X
Many people after experiencing it have Honda Winner X review that the saddle is thin and quite hard. According to Honda, the saddle of the WINNER X is designed to be flatter and refined to bring a more comfortable feeling for both riders and passengers.
However, there have been many complaints about this saddle on the small Underbone bike due to its hardness. After long journeys on the bike, the riders express their exhaustion and discomfort sitting on this hard and thin saddle. Although the visual effect that this saddle creates is not bad at all, if the saddle’s foam is thicker and more comfortable, the experience on the Honda Winner X will be completely different.
Honda Winner X users can modify this saddle by adding Kym Dan cushion foam or reupholster the saddle with softer leather than the original one.
Oil leak on the engine wall on Honda Winner X
In the new version, Honda Winner X is still equipped with a single-cylinder DOHC engine, capacity of 150cc, liquid-cooled, producing a maximum power of 15.4 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 13.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm.
After a period of use, Honda Winner X has a phenomenon of oil leakage at some positions on the engine wall such as contact points, the joint between the camshaft and the engine, or on the valve cover. This makes the engine wall quite messy and oily when the oil leaks along with the mud splashed into this area. With some bikes that are regularly washed and cleaned, it will be difficult to detect. With the current Honda Winner X price, these issues are a big drawback for Honda manufacturer.
To fix this issue, if the cause is in the burned or damaged valve cover gasket, the only solution is to remove the valve cover and replace the gasket for the leaking part.
Poor camshaft performance on Honda Winner X
Not long ago, an owner of the Honda Winner X posted a video clip about the “strange noise” inside the engine of his newly purchased bike.
Video clip of a strange noise recorded by the owner of a Honda Winner X
According to the owner, his Honda Winner X has only been operated for about 700km when the engine started to make a squeaking noise. Still using the same engine block, the Honda Winner X is equipped with a DOHC 1-cylinder engine. This type of engine uses a dual cam, so when the camshaft parts on the engine wall do not work properly, the long camshaft chain will be prone to jumping and hitting the inner wall of the engine, causing a squeaking noise. Not only that, if the cam chain is slacked, it will also affect the operation of the top cam, which can cause a louder noise than usual.
This issue has appeared quite a lot on the old version Honda Winner 150 and it was thought to have been completely resolved on the new version, but this engine block still squeaks after a short time of operation on Vietnamese land.
Engine makes “o o” noise above 5,000 rpm
For meticulous bikers, they may notice this noise on the Honda Winner X engine as soon as they control the bike and rev it evenly above 5,000 rpm. However, this noise often only occurs in the ả-đa phase and can be some internal engine parts that are not as smooth as possible.
Therefore, the Rot-da phase on motorcycles is very important as the bike needs to “train” before being put into “battle”. At this stage, we should use good quality engine oil and regularly clean it after every first 500km, pay attention to cleaning or replacing the oil filter for the first time because during this time, metal debris will be quite a lot.
Those are the 4 “basic” problems that many Honda Winner X users in Vietnam have reported about this popular Underbone sport bike model. In addition, there are also some feedbacks such as a stiff rear suspension, the original chain stretches quickly or the front turn signal is easy to break, all of which can be quickly addressed with customized accessories for Winner X. Take care and maintain your bike, and regularly follow TINXE.VN to keep your bike always in good condition and new!
